Well if they are highly political then why did Granma not give the name? I do not think that they blocked the entire street ... was it a birthday party ... or was it a block party? I guess it's ok to shut it down for a church block party ... Holy Rosary does it all of the time they shut down a block and set up tables in the street for their food stands ... but I didn't hear Granma bitchin about that ... it happens every year and has been happening for as long as I can remember ... hmmmmm I'm sure that Holy Rosary is not the only church that does this ... I find it hard to believe that the police department ... if this really happened was not informed of what was going on ... especially if it were a highly politcal person who held this party! __________________ I want everyone to stop and think about one thing ... Let me get back to the street closing for just a sec ... first of all, what the frig business is it of ANYone who lives outside that closed block WHY the block was closed. If permission from the city was granted and the police and firemen knew about it so they could re-route, then what is the big deal? I think granma was pissed because down in her little hole (oops, hollow), there aren't that many people - well, aren't that many people that like her enough to invite her to a par-tay. The block was probably closed because all the people who might have the right to park in that block were invited to or hosting the party. That's what being involved in your neighborhood is all about -- you're friendly, you visit, you break bread, your children become life-long friends. It's not that difficult -- just takes a phone call. I've seen it done. I've been to party where the hosts had it done. Streets are closed ALL the time around this city for personal reasons. Hell, they shut down Penn Avenue for a fashion show. Just because YOU don't like it (or didn't think of it first), doesn't mean no one else can't do it. Now, you couldn't cut off one block of Mulberry Street or Pittston Avenue just for $hits and giggles, but really - who gives a rat's ass that a block on Garfield Ave was closed until 2 in the morning??? __________________ Stupid people piss me off !

Girl I just read the post by nobody defending Granma on her stance against Block Parties ... and wouldn't you know ... and it shouldn't have been a big surprise to me ... He brought up Hollowgate ... he's actually named the cutting down of trees in a right of way Hollowgate. Well Granny I looked at the PDF file Joe Posted ... in it they referred to the homeless as residents ... what does that clue tell us all ... that's right ... residents reside there ... wow they really pulled off that one ... pulled the wool right over the eyes of everyone ... NOT

The say that they may have people with criminal a criminal background because they will not discriminate ... not that they will have all criminals there ... they also state that criminal background checks will be conducted so they will not be harboring fugitives and that they will inform the SPD when they have these people there ... again they are trying to hide something!

I am not saying that this place is good for that neighborhood ... I'm not ... but Joe posted the inspection and he posted that they are within their rights as far as use is concerned ... the only violation that they may be in is for parking ... they must provide off street parking ... so where is this conspiracy that you all have been going on about for months?

As far a police at the School ... we have two police officers assigned to Scranton High School and they have been there since we opened ... pay attention Granny.

And you say that Doherty would not approve of this if his children attended Scranton High ... well guess what ... his children do attend Scranton High School ... Oh my god .... you people need to check your facts ... ask Queen Jan ... she knows that they attend that School ... One graduated 2 years ago (I think it was 2 years anyway ... I could be wrong) and I don't know if one graduated last year or if the child is a senior this year ... so you need to get a grip and check your facts ....

I actually agree with Granma's (as painful as that sounds) premise that the city's police and firemen do deserve a raise. The Mayor should have settled those contracts years ago. Funny, but if the police are doing such a great job in Granma's eyes, why then does she let that racist pig AntiSemiticMovements trash them at every turn? Where was Granma when Sam Patilla was questioning the integrity of the SPD? She must have been with finger-injured-now-disabled former officer and FOP president Stulgis. For the record, I think unions are a very good idea in some industries...especially those occupations that involve substantial risks to workers. 50 years ago, the unions were a necessary evil. But now, all they do is breed cry-babies. If you can not (or will not) do the job you are sssigned to do, get the hell out and let some other guy who needs the job get in there and do it. I feel policemen and firemen deserve to earn a decent wage and if they get sent out on one call, they deserve every nickel they are being paid -- but Teamsters? Laborers? Carpenters? and above all Secretaries??? PLEASE ! Lots of people can drive a truck, hump a toolbox from point 'a' to point 'b', and know the business end of a hammer. There's no reason why these guys need a union. What - some guy has a hemmoroid, so he can't double-clutch in a dumptruck? The laborer has a hangnail, so that toolbox has got to wait til tomorrow to be moved? The carpenter with the splinter ... and don't get me started on the poor secretary with the paper cut. Unions in this day and age breed nothing but lazy-ass cry-babies, plain and simple. Ugh - freaking losers. Where's the Tylenol? __________________ Stupid people piss me off !

I'm actually worried about the old girl ... I know she writes some crazy things ... but she's really not a bad person ... she was just fell in with (in my opinion) the wrong crowd.
