If you haven't already done so, please check out the letters to the editor of today's (01.01.2007) Scranton Times. LoD founding member Les Spindler rails against council for holes in the smoking ban. To quote Mr Spindler...
"City Council has to amend this law because as it stands now it is useless."
HEY LES...Let's take things one at a time.
FIRST...get your guru Pilchesky to cancel the suit against the ban. THEN talk about making changes to it. If your BOSS has the law overturned there will be nothing to amend.
BETTER YET, why don't you use your next 5 minutes of City Council Citizen's Participation fame to rail against the lawsuit filed by your Dear Leader Pilchesky? I dare ya...I double dare ya...come on Les, prove that you are more than just another LoD/DD sheep.

He can't argue the case until he gets STANDING! Haven't you read any of his posts - no loss in court counts UNTIL they let him argue the case. Having the case tossed out because it lacks merit doesn't count...what's a poor slob like Les to do?
What bars does that guy go to that a simple question to another bar patron "likely is going to end up in a fight?"
"Excuse me, would you mind taking your hands off of my daughter's breasts?" That I can see ending up in punches thrown.
"Pardon me, would you mind not smoking?" will probably get you nothing worse than a "Why don't you move over there?" if the patron doesn't actually put out the cigarette.
Outside of the four or five posters (in each of their different sock-identities) on DD and in the "Legion of Doom," Les, no one is that knee-jerkingly and unprovokingly hostile to another human being.
Ok ... I just got done reading Les Spindler's pearls of wisdom ... but here is a thought ... when he is at the Podium ... isn't it Les who is always saying that the Times WON'T print his letters ... hmmmmmmm Les you lied to us yet again.
Back to the content of Les's letter ... I really want to know where this Bar is that Les is talking about because I don't ever want to go there for any reason ... I have to say this ... Les I am a SMOKER ... I fully intend to obey the law and I will not smoke in public ... which means I will go outside ... but I have to say that even now if I were sitting next to someone and my smoke were bothering them and they asked me to extinguish my cigarette ... I would do it ... I can't imagine that smoking is a reason ... even where alcohol is involved ... to have a bar fight ... get real LES you do live in Scranton don't you? I have never seen a fight break out over a want for a smoke!
