OK ... why would they assume that the reporting of Channel 16 will be different ... I am assuming that it will be business as usual ... now the confusing part here is this ... are they saying that this will make WRBE/WYOU (because we know they are one in the same) worse or better ... they do not state which ... and are they accusing the new owners of WNEP of something before they even begin? 

As if that post were not confusing enough ... then comes the Walmart thing ... how did this change over from the post above to the next posts?

Where does this fit ... are they saying Walmart won't come here because they deny 1st amendment Rights in the City of Scranton ... I don't think that is why they are not coming here ... it's probably got more to do with the fact that maybe they don't want their stores so close together ... could that be the reason ... if I were a retailer ... I would not want stores very close in proximity to one and other because how would the stores do financially ... I think it is more of a fiscal decision than a personal feeling toward the city of Scranton.

Is it not the case that many Dunmore police part-time (ie. a few connected police get full time while many part timers, who make much less, work the shifts that the connected full time cop doesn't want)?

I can't really sympathize with cops and firemen losing their job or not getting a raise since 2002. Why should the rest of the city organize to fight for their wages? I haven't seen or heard of them organizing and fighting for wages of the MANY people in this city, particularly women with dependent(s), who make 8 dollars an hour or less. These workers, who live in stress that their job will go under, or go overseas, or get cut, have it worse than any cop or firemen in this city.

Like I've said before: a cop or firemen collecting unemployment makes more than at least 1/4 of all wage earners in this city.

Their job is dangerous and stressful, but so aren't many jobs, but they have no representation. IIRC, according to the department of labor hotel housekeeper jobs are more dangerous.

With all due respect, when something bad happens to a cop or a firemen on the job, or when their employer, Doherty, does something that is inappropriate, a strong union takes their back and a rep goes on 61 to politicize the issue. The community gets involved, in one way or another, and the issue is exposed. The poor workers of this community, on the other hand, who make much less don't have that representation. The poor workers are at the whim of their employer. Cops and firemen are NOWHERE near that level.

Personally, I'm tired of hearing about how dangerous their job is and how we should be scared of our house burnning down or getting broken into without them, and how crime is going to take over the city if cops are cut. It's bull****. That's a scare tactic that is comparable to some of things Doherty has done. I agree that Doherty has undermined public safety, but don't call on the poor folk to take your back. You don't identify with us until you need something.

Anti is saying here that the money is not bad for what these people do ... I have to say I think that they deserve a raise ... and as far as their jobs being dangerous ... well yes they are ... I wouldn't want a job where there was a possibility of someone shooting at me ... and I wouldn't want a job where I had to run into a burning building ... it takes a special breed. I would like you all to stop and think about one thing though ... They are very much needed ... I know that for a fact ... not the police ... I have no first hand experience with them (but they are just as needed) ... the fire department let me tell you ... in this town they are great ... that I do know.   As far as the dangerous jobs in this town I would have to say that it must be the DPW workers that have about the most dangerous jobs in the city of Scranton ... think about it ... how many have died on the job in the last 15 years ... and how many police and fireman have died on the job in the last 15 years?  Just something for us all to think about.   OK so our next post that goes with the above post ... and this one is just plain funny to me because can any of you imagine that Anti would be a "Doobee" ... Wow what a concept!

Who gives a flying @hit if people organize to support them? Not me. But when you hear that glass breaking at 3 AM, call Lisa Moran OK? Don't bother to call the police because you clearly stated they are inconsequential!
If you smell smoke at 4 AM just make sure you put out that last joint. Don't bother calling the fire department, just roll over. They too are inconsequential.

This post is a classic example that if you do not agree with the DD gang then you must be a Doherty supporter ... you must be sick (well in this particular case they are right Anti is a very sick individual) but this just goes to show that you are not allowed to have open and honest debate for any reason ... because when you don't agree they will be in the attack mode that they are so famous for.   So now our two DD'ers seem to be understanding each other ... take a look ... just like all good little they are back in the herd.

I HATE Doherty.

As predicted, the trajedy and heroism of 9/11 is being politicized and used as a bargaining chip in a labor dispute. I disagree with that. You can ralley behind city labor, and by all means please use Anti as your scapegoat , but it doesn't change the fact that this city is shrinking and the burden city workers are feeling are experienced by many. In fact, city workers have it easy compared to some people.

I never said that firemen are inconsequential, I merely suggested that I can't sympatize with the "plight" of city workers who can make more on unemployment that over 1/4 of all wage earners in this city. I won't call Lisa Moran becaues I don't talk to that dolt. And I don't smoke pot either. I might have nailed a dobee or two, but I've never been nailed for having one.
