Glenn I completely understand what you are saying but think about sitting in a church trying to bury your son while listening to people outside screaming "THANK GOD FOR IED"S" "GOD KILLED YOUR SON". Would that even be possible for you? It wouldn't be for me. Theoretically what you are saying makes sense ....theoretically. We don't live in a theoretical world though, we live in the real one. How could anyone let those pigs scream outside the funeral unabated?
Mr. Kridlo gave his life so that even the most vile people will always have the right of free speech. The biggest tribute to the man would be a stoic silence honoring that sacrifice.
Not to defend these "people" as there is a special level of Hell reserved for the Phelps family, but according to the Times, "state law prohibits protests within 500 feet of commemorative services - including funerals - during the services and an hour before and an hour after."
I think they've caused more distraction in the run-up to the funeral than they actually will tomorrow, which was their primary goal.
I just spent some time watching videos about the Westboro Baptist Church on YouTube, I am of the opinion that these people would not know the word of God if it bit them on the ass.
It is a painful time for the Kridlo family, and they should not have to be subjected to the protests of this cult. If you watch anything on them you quickly come to the realization that they are not Baptists they are .... I don't know exactly the only thing that comes to mind is Cult .... they live in somewhat of a commune ... they have their own homes, however they share a common yard ... they associate with nobody ... unless they are a part of the "church" ... they only have 70 members of this "church" and yet everyone seems to know who they are ... why ... because we give them exactly what they want ... attention.
My heart breaks for the Kridlo family and they should not have to be subjected to further pain that protesters will cause. The ones who will burn in hell are the Phelps family and the church members who are so incensitive to think we all want to hear the hatred that they spew.

I agree completely, but my view is that Mr. Kridlo would most likely be the first to inform his family and friends that he was killed defending the rights of all Americans, including the reprehensible and ignorant attention-seekers who do not show the proper respect either to him or his loved ones.
By depriving those people of the one thing they seek...attention...the family will provide the fallen soldier with one final victory.
I certainly am not saying your wrong Glenn ... I agree ... attention is what they seek and attention is what they get. There was one video of them ... when cameras were rolling they were chanting and singing vile songs ... and then the camera crew went away and hid around the corner from them ... they stood silently ... so they are only doing this for the show ... I believe that protest was in Hawaii. I find it amazing that they have the money to fly all over the country "spreading the word of God" with only 70 total members of the Church most of whom are children. The members work and must donate 10% of their income to the church. Now 11 members of this church are Shirley Phelps children ... so where do they get the money to fund this insanity?

Only 1 member of this church was not born into it ... the rest were family members of the Reverand Phelps ... strange. They only associate with church members so does this mean that they are products of inbreeding? It sure could explain a lot.
