Now we have the kids across the hall placing the blame on the Mayor for the meters that were placed where the General Dynamic Employees park ... Kids were you not paying attention ... they were not placed there by order of the Mayor ... the council placed them there ... get with the program and start paying attention!
Looks like those new parking meters were a colossal waste of money, not one car parked there this morning. If they think they forced people parking there to pay $100.month to park in one of the garages, think again, I'm sure they just moved a block or so away, and are now parking in front of people's houses. But I'm sure there was a no-bid crony contract handed out to buy those meters.
Scotty is right....a veritable ghost town there. If I were visiting the city and saw all those vacant meters, it wouldn't project a positive image of Scranton to me.
Ironic that the city is REMOVING meters on Mulberry Street where the U of S cityscape project is underway. Let's make sure the tax exempt folks dont have to pay to park, only the working class folks.....

It's not ironic at all. In fact, it is very consistent with past practices. The city of Scranton subsidizes the rich while penalizing the poor and working class. For instance, taxpayers are subsidizing high end housing and night life for middle-class consumers (most aren't even residents) while underminning or eradicating public housing and poor residents.

And I am wondering why someone would think that people visiting Scranton would find this as a poor reflection on our City ... how many people do we think are really coming into our city and passing down this street ... I would think that there are not many who will see this ... But my point is this ... place the blame for this bad decision where it actually lies ... at the feet of Council and not the Mayor ...

It would be great if a couple of wayward parking meters were Scranton's biggest issue right now, wouldn't it? Can't let the planet orbit too close to the Janet sun.
Just like when she voted in favor of the now defaulted upon loans to places like Brannigans, VIda Tappas and Michaels Luxury Eyeware, it seems as though Her Teflon Highness won't catch any fallout from this either. Rather, this is her seeking revenue streams.
As I was traveling around across the hall today I noticed one thing ... the kids over there have a prolem with the new parking meters ... because the hard working people from General Dynamics are expected to pay to park there ... but they are demanding that the hard working people of the CMC pay metered parking at Nay Aug ... and they don't seem to care that many hard working people pay metered parking daily while working downtown and if they can't get a meter they pay a hefty fee to park in a garage ... so what's the deal ... why are they up in arms about these new meters to begin with?
By the way I think the new meters were a stupid idea and I don't agree with it at all ... I'm just saying that these same people get upset when hard working people don't have to pay for parking ... so how can the city win with these people ... no matter who's bad idea this was.

Well Ag they should love them seeing as Mrs Evans seconded the motion and voted in favor of these new meters. Hmmmmm .... but they don't mention that across the hall do they.

Make that "son". He provides quite the kitchen cabinet for mom.
The irony is that many people (especially a good number of Jan Fans) place a lot of blame on Dutch and Chris as "achilles heels" in Janet's political career, but I don't agree. Are they short-fused at times? Yes. Do they control the direction of her campaigns? Yes. Do they argue with her about appointments and city activity? I'm sure.
Yet, the woman continued to rack up political victories and finally dragged an entire supermajority into power even while the mayor was winning a third term. So how much did they hurt her? Judy Gatelli's husband is personable and engaging, yet she lost.
Personally, I really like both of them and I think they are a net positive for Janet. It seems that their reputation as "career albatrosses" has been embellished by the people who are so dementedly infatuated with Janet that they simply need somebody else to blame when things occasionally go off the rails. Janet's "friends", in the end, will be her downfall as they continue to alienate and exclude any individual who even utters a peep of protest about the way the supermajority is operating.
I questioned some of their methods and what did I get? A lashing from "Speak the Truth" about my bitterness and personal vendetta. I never attacked Janet personally, as I still consider her a friend. However, allowing such a personally venomous response certainly did not endear her to me.
Father and son have never been anything but friendly and on the level with me. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them.
The adoration given to Janet Evans at DD borders of the sycophantic. Pretty ironic given that she is supposed to be such a different kind of politician.
As for David, we've seen his work here. Lus has rightfully pointed out on several occasions though to look at who he is married to, which might explain a lot. Maybe he is a decent guy who caught up in an indecent amount of personal insanity.
The son? First, I find his job a bit ironic given Janet's past council tirade about other members who have family members working for the SSD. Second, if he's behind the "let's suck up to the unions and blame everything on Doherty" strategy, then there is no way he's going to get much respect here, no matter what you (or anyone else) says.
