Bank forecloses as Smith says he's still trying to pay mortgage, loan and taxes

State Rep. Ken Smith's well-known South Scranton restaurant is scheduled to be sold at a Lackawanna County sheriff's sale June 1 unless he works out a plan with the bank that foreclosed on the mortgage.

In addition, Mr. Smith continues to owe almost $12,000 in property taxes on the restaurant, though he made an approximately $10,000 payment Friday soon after The Times-Tribune visited the county Tax Claim Bureau to check on his taxes.
