There was a story in the Times yesterday about the officer elections for the "We Hate Chris" Club, also known as the Taxpayer's Association. Yes, this is the Ozzinator's little coffee klatch, where Scranton's finest get to sit around and complain about the city...on city property mind you.
Anyway, the funniest part was who the named as Treasurer. Yes, they named "Mr Hecky-Shecky" himself, Sammy Patilla. I gotta tell you...I nearly fell off my chair laughing. As far as I can tell, Sammy can't write particularly well, doesn't read particularly well, so why on Earth would any one assume he can even count really well? Forget counting...we are talking about the need to do actual math here people. A poster on the Times website wrote something about how Sammy has a CPA...that might be true, but only if CPA stands for "Consistently Poor Attire".
On a side (and more serious) note, let's see just how much "for the taxpayers" the "We Hate Chris" club is when Ms Evans & her poodles float the idea of an amusement tax. I'm thinking they will be pretty damn silent.
Anyway, this is the best that they have? I have an idea...why not also name Danny Hubbard as "Sargent At Arms"? (Get it...he had that little gun incident...) Speaking of Danny Hubbard, it's been a while since I've posted this, so what the heck...
Editor: The purpose of this letter is to rescind the multiple accusations and negative remarks I have made at Scranton City Council meetings regarding Daron Northeast. The statements I made were misleading, malicious and without merit.
Among the false allegations I made toward Daron Northeast were:
I stated that Daron was “not in compliance” and that it “exploited loopholes” to get the company up and running. Daron Northeast followed the proper guidelines to start its manufacturing operations in the city of Scranton and did nothing to exploit the city or the zoning officials. Daron submitted all the proper applications and received all the appropriate approvals to begin its operations in 2003.
I also stated that Daron Northeast violated local zoning ordinances “30-some times.” I had and still have no basis for that accusation. To my knowledge, there is not one existing zoning ordinance being violated by Daron Northeast at this time.
I have accused the city administration of protecting Daron Northeast and lining its pockets as a result of that. I have no basis for that accusation whatsoever. Daron Northeast has followed all the proper channels and guidelines in establishing its business within the city limits.
My statements accusing Daron Northeast of causing “long-term lung damage” as a result of Daron’s operations and “operating illegally polluting the environment and killing residents” were made recklessly and without any merit. I have no reason to believe that these statements have any truth whatsoever.
For these reasons, I am hereby retracting the above statements that I have made about Daron Northeast.

Do they have a budget for the taxpayers association??? They better watch the money ... Ozzie has a habit of bankruppting boards ... I'm just saying ... My opinion.

The "We Hate Chris Club" doesn't state whether or not they are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, so I'm thinking that they are not. Regardless, I always find this little line in their by-laws to be pretty amusing:
"Membership is granted by the majority of members of the association."
Allow me to translate: If you don't hate Chris like we do, don't even consider joining.

...I wouldn't give this group the authority to organize a trip to the restroom(and I highly doubt they could!), let alone the authority to try and fix the financial woes of a City the size of Scranton! (Which I KNOW they Can't!!!)...This group has been in existence for awhile, no? Have they actually ever brought anything worthwhile to the table besides alot of hot air and giving everyone a bogus title? Maybe I'm missing something, but that's all I've seen...Jimbu15.
