Hey Glen I bet you just love that you are the first poster in the thread kinda makes it look like you started it!! Don't you love when Joeyboy edits your posts. lol
Oh and Glenn I am still waiting for you to explain why Doug's age is NOW a problem for you. It wasn't a problem for you (and you took us to task for saying it was) last year?
Where did Doug Miller live? Miller sued over residency qualifications - 09-CV-7131
Printer Friendly
From the Times: Doug Miller: Mr. Miller believes attracting and retaining young people is a key element in rebuilding the city's tax base and vitality.
Obviously. No specifics, though. Just a lot of feel-good generalities.
"We're very lucky to have great universities and colleges," he said, and believes job opportunities and quality of life will encourage graduates to stay.
Again, no specifics. Where are these "job opportunities"? If anything, the oppressive mercantile and wage taxes are making companies flee the city in droves.
Maybe we should all be able to work for a "relative's business" like Mr. Miller.
He looks at work done under Mr. Doherty's tenure - such as investment in Nay Aug Park and Connell Park - as improving both quality of life and property values in the area.
He sees the need for continued investment in neighborhood-level amenities, such as a new library in South Scranton.
Who is going to pay for this new library? What will it hold? Just books? Computers? Interactive learning? Who will run it?
"The neighborhoods are one of the big issues," he said."
He pointed to the mayor's success in attracting state and federal grants for community improvements, and says drawing in those dollars is key to making upgrades.
On the budget, he said it's hard to say what, if anything, he'd cut from the budget - it's a case-by-case question.
Having failed out of Lackawanna Junior College, I doubt Mr. Miller understands much of anything in the budget. The debt levels don't seem to bother him, the business defaults seem to be acceptable, and the tax rates, even though three times higher than those in neighboring municipalities, appear to be on a course to stay the same or go higher during a Doug Miller administration.
Still, he is optimistic about the city's finances.
"The way the economy is today is unfortunate, but it's not just in Scranton," he said. "Overall, though, I'm very pleased with the direction we're headed in."
Why? Yet again, no specifics. Scranton was in financial trouble during the dot-com era and recent housing boom. How does Mr. Miller believe it will change?
As for council, he feels the breakdown in decorum is an issue to be reckoned with.
"No matter what you do you're always going to have your critics," he said. "Hopefully we can respect each other's differences and move on."
Something Mr. Miller contributed directly to during his tenure as "junior council president".
The Times could have handled this whole council election much better. If anybody but Mayor Doherty had put this opportunistic shill out for electoral consumption, the negative editorials would be flying furiously.
At least some credible primary candidates would have had a chance. This mayor is down to his last bullet--a majority based on a 19-year-old college dropout without any skills whatsoever and a council president who believes that the only way a taxpayer should be provided public information is by filing an expensive lawsuit.
Boo.

I don't approve of title changing. I think the lawsuit is pointless. It is not a matter of age as much as the fact that Doug Miller has a substance-free platform.
I expected some energy and ideas. What I got was worse than Sherry Fanucci.
No doubt you have posted that sentiment over there right??
Oh wait nope... this is what you posted.....wow way to tell Joeyboy off! LOL LOL

I'm not sure I would have filed suit before the council meeting. In fact, I'm not sure Dougie merits any serious attention at all.
He can't win. They can only lose.

As to Doug....if it is not a matter of his age why mention it over and over and over?? also please tell me what he had last year at this time that he doesn't have now? Or better tell me what you have now that you didn't have then??
We don't air it out in public. He gets a phone call. As for Doug, his "platform" doesn't even make sense now. He's painting Scranton as fiscally sound with job opportunities, businesses clamoring to open, and a tax base which doesn't need serious repair.
He is completely clueless. I'd take someone with a radically different opinion than mine over someone who has absolutely no idea what the hell is going on.
"We don't air it out in public. He gets a phone call."
Why? This is the same man who routinely "airs it out in public" whenever he get hears of some wild-a$$ed rumor, true or not. You are affording him a courtesy that he NEVER affords to the targets of his website...children and other family members included (just ask Judy Gatelli's daugther Glenn).
Your choice to not "air it out in public", but with all due respect Glenn, you are contributing to the appearance that you coddle this guy. Hell, you have been FAR TOUGHER on a 19 year old kid (young Mr Miller) THAN YOU EVER HAVE BEEN to Joe Pilchesky.
What has young Mr Miller done? Well he's been an ineffective campainger for an office his he is not qualified for. Gee, that's plenty-o-reaon to nail his butt to the wall, right Glenn? No wonder you are so tough on him!
What has Joe Pilchesky done? Well he's run a website where there are 2 facts for every 10 wild-assed rumors, he has squandered legal resouces with mindless lawsuites, he has called a local reporter a "N_____", has claimed that the Mayor caused a suicide, etc. No wonder you "don't air it out in public". He has earned that courtsey, has he not Glenn?
This makes you appear to be highly hypocritical Glenn.

Now this is just a thought Ag ... but Glenn wants to hold a political office in Lackawanna County ... hell if he lived in Scranton I bet he would run for council himself ... but alas he does not live here ... so that's out ... so he is not going to piss Joey off by going against him ... he's going to use Joey ... he want's Joey on his side because he does not want to be slammed all over that board when he makes his next run for public office. Which is why he thinks what Joey does is serving a higher purpose for the greater good of the citizens and taxpayers in Lackawanna County, even if he doesn't really feel that way ... he won't come out and say that what they do across the hall is wrong, he will simply continue to come up with reasons to justify their behavior and make excuses for them.

I can assure you right now that the Democratic Committee has informed me in no uncertain terms that I will not be welcome in 2011. That's good enough for me. As for Joe, I would not want him against me, but our friendship does not depend on him always being for me.
I also believe Joe has been a net positive for the county. I don't always agree with the methods, but politicians no longer have carte blanche to do whatever the hell they want with taxpayer money. That is a good thing. It certainly helped us with that backroom-deal halfway house.
Of course, the behind-the-scenes corruption never seems to be a problem on this board.

So you ARE afraid of him. ya he is real good for the community....he has achieved his objective with you anyway. Cow tow to me or else!!

Really?? I am sure Lus can find the posts were you claim Joey was no influence as most people didn't even know about his website. You left his website (briefly) over his "methods" as I recall. Again I am forced to ask what the hell happened to you? How did they get to you? What does he have on you? What are you in line for come this election?
You don't always agree with his methods? Really which methods the ones where he used children, racial comments, sexist comments and attempted to ruin the family memebers of people who are in office? Those methods? Thats all he does so which methods do you actually agree with Glenn, since your comments imply you do agree with something.
Of course, the behind-the-scenes corruption never seems to be a problem on this board.
Of course you (as others before you)have chosen to forget that this board was created to expose the not -behind-the-scenes-corruption at DD. You have no idea who I am, so you also have no idea what I do for good or bad in this community. I on the other hand now know exactly who you are and you can count on me sharing your "insights" at DD with community should you decide to run for office again.
1. Joe has been exponentially more effective in the past eighteen months.
2. Unless you can change my last name to something Irish-sounding, there is absolutely nothing you can do for or against me in the city of Scranton. Since I cannot win without city votes, there's really no point in running. I would bet a majority of the city will vote for Kenny McDowell again in 2011.
3. The mayor only won (twice) because Gary DiBileo is incapable of running an effective (even somewhat-effective) campaign. Imagine. 47% for an opponent who makes no impression and offers no ideas.
4. If DD does something that is corrupt, point it out. That's what this board is for, you tell me. It will never reach the level of corruption in the current city government, though. Not possible.
Glenn...you sound like a desperate Republican, you know that kind that, when faced with nothing else to argue, just cries "Socialism!" and hopes that someone will pay attention. [For the record, I could also reverse roles and say "desperate Democrat crying "Racism!"].
Of course your version of "Socialism!" is to reference Ken McDowell, the incompetent buffoon that he is, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with Joe Pilchesky's self-serving, down-right evil bull$hit.
Nice try though. I suggest saving the deflection for DD, as history suggests that they are much more likely to be distracted by shiny objects and/or references to Ken McDowell.
Oh, and by the way, your "net positive" comment reminds me of that famous comment about Benito Mussolini: "He made the trains run on time." Congratulations for providing proof positive that, when faced with overwhelming evidence to the contrary, some people (YOU) can rationalize themselves into ignoring just about anything (you know, little things like estate bilking, vile racist comments, beating sleeping drunks, stalking, "outing" children, lying, failing to pay taxes, etc.).
The real question is this: just what would your "friend" Joe have to do in order for you to reconsider his "net positive" impact? Maybe it will take something like...
Real violence being visited upon a politician on Joe's hit-list
A child terrified by a stalkger peering into the house of their politician parent
A child needing to be segregated at school after being taunted by peers over something posted on DD (OOOOPPPPS, scratch that one Glenn...that one ALREADY happened...did you know that? I'm sure that Joe doesn't actually give a $hit, but hey the parent had an Irish last name, so what the hell...)
Yupp, Joe is a "net positive".

It happens on both sides. I've now seen the Doherty administration in action, too. In any event, what may have outraged me a year or two just doesn't even merit a passing glance now. I simply no longer care.
Well maybe you don't care about children being destroyed..... but I CARE!
Maybe you don't care about an old man's bank account being raided 10 sec after he was dead....but I CARE
Maybe you don't care that Stacy Brown is called the N word and and is further taunted by santioned posters (named "uncle tom's cabin" ) among others...but I CARE
Maybe you don't care that people's personal garbage is gone through and their day to day movements are tracked.... but I CARE
Maybe you don't care that people's private sexual preferences are used as a battering ram against them......but I CARE
You claim the otherside does it too? Really? Show me an example will you? Besides even if they did... that would makes it ok for your side to do it as well?.......Your Mom must be so proud of what you have become..very proud.
You should read back to some of your earlier posts... back when you had some dignity and you knew right from wrong, and apparently long before the ice princess flashed her legs your way......no fool like an old fool... no truer words have ever been said.....

It happens on both sides. [I agree and disagree...is there sleazery among politicians and those in power? Sure there is. But none of them, outside of maybe Conahan and Ciavarella in Wilkes-Barre, are on par with Pilchesky and his tactics. Put another way, has Mayor Doherty steered money to campaign contributors? Sure, he probably has done that. Has he participated in the looting of a dead person's estate or intentionally harmed children? No. One set of wrongs is far worse than the other.] I've now seen the Doherty administration in action, too. [If Mayor Doherty has done something(s) on par with what Pilchesky has done...i.e., stealing from the dead, blaming a suicide on someone, "outing" children and grandchildren, doing bodily harm to someone else, then put up or shut up. If the worst you can claim is that he's a poor fiscal manager, then clearly you have no sense of proportion.] In any event, what may have outraged me a year or two just doesn't even merit a passing glance now. I simply no longer care. [You have this attitude and you are gravitating towards your "friend" Joe Pilchesky. Seriously Glenn, what does THAT tell you?]
There. Something you can use someday. [Use???? Certainly not in the way that Pilchesky "uses" things. Remind you of???? Sure. Conversely, you can remind me of anything I've posted here, and if I'm being inconsistent or something I've said has been proven to be inappropriate/wrong, then I'll man-up to it. I can't speak for others, but I expect the same from someone such as yourself. Also, I continue to be shocked that, as a lawyer (someone trained to understand how some abuse the legal system for personal gain and sport), you don't the glaring contradictions between Pilchesky's self-proclaimed mission and his tactics.]

Guerrilla tactics are quite commonly used when one is up against a larger, more powerful foe. Joe is trying to take on an entire corrupt network and playing nice wouldn't work. So what if there's a bit of collateral damage? It's still a net positive for the county.
Wrong. It means that Pilchesky is nothing but egotistical and self-indulgent. Other community activists...such as Gene Stilp...achieve more than Pilchesky without the "collateral damage".

Hey Glenn make sure you send over Edith's prisoner ID number, otherwise we won't be able to drop her a line when she goes up the river...... I know I want to keep in touch lol lol lol
