Breaking news on Scranton times...Doherty contemplating a run...WOW then your good friend Janet could be your mayor for 30 days....WOW you guys gotta LOVE that......Please take him to Harrisburg....he will fit right in.
In some bizarre way, the prospect of Janet Evans being Mayor would be worst possible thing for the likes of Pilchesky & company. Why? Because then there will be no more excuses for the pandering, no more excuses for the lack of ideas, no more excuses for the lack of accomplishing anything. In essence, Janet Evans will lose the ability to cry "but it's not my fault!" any more.
What's more, she will have to face the cold, hard facts of the city budget.
Pointing a finger at someone who has the ball and complaining is a hell of a lot easier than having the ball and running the play your self.
Finally...I could care less who runs for governor. If Chris Doherty wants to run, then good for him. I'll wait and see who his opponents might be before I draw any conclusions.

I personally would prefer him to stay right here and be the Mayor of Scranton ... but ... I can not fault someone who wishes to further themselves in their career ... hell isn't that what we all have in our life plans to better ourselves and to take our careers higher.
Again ... I would prefer him to stay right here and be the Mayor of Scranton.

If my choices are Chris Doherty and Janet Evans as mayor of Scranton, and Chris Doherty is leaving, I'll be giving the realtor a call in the morning and be on the first jitney outta here.
If you think he is such a bad mayor doomers ... why then would you want to see him in the governors office?

If Miss Jan is mayor how long do you think it would take her to dictate a letter?? About 3 days heyna or no?? Lord talk about progress grinding to a halt....
I would like to see him resign and run for gov..then we all win, cause he has no chance. however he is a bad mayor he can't run the city efficently so I have no hopes of him being able to runthe state.
I think Governor Rendell gets a bad rap in that people can remember his name and his face, but yet that same isn't true for the clowns running the legislature.

Just imagine if the doomers get their way. Two newbies get elected to Council. Evans looks into the future and realizes she's actually going to have to work (and not have a mayoral scapegoat) if she's elected as Pres. of Council, so she declines and one of the newbies is appointed as Pres. of Countil. Doherty resigns as Mayor to run for Governor.
And we're stuck with Miller, Rogan or the "hottie in a hoodie" for Mayor of our fair city and Miss Clairol is STILL Deputy Dawg-ing it on the Council diaz.
Jesus H., run for the friggin hills

If Janet were the Mayor, imagine how long it would take to get through the annual "Mayors Prayer Breakfast"? At two words a minute, it will be dinner before she finishes her speech.
Besides, can't she get herself appointed to the legislature or something like that? After all, she is 1 - 0 in the "getting self government job" department. The legislature is full of pompous, self-righteous, narcissistic government spongers. She would fit right in.

OMG OMG The breakfast....seriously dinner ?...more like dinner the next day people will be dropping like flies if she speaks. Hehheheheh. Can you imagine Daveyboy at the breakfast...You know for the comic aspect of it, Missy Jan winning the mayor's seat might be worth the fun.
The thought of David being "the first lady of Scranton" is kind of funny. It adds a whole new dimension to the notion that Janet "wears the pants" in the family.
