Would this be a "volunteer?

I sure am glad the LWV has impartial "volunteers"!!  Hey PeterPeter you should have quit while you were ahead, as you are either  speaking on behalf of a group you have no affilation with (not likely) or you just gave up your womens group big time !!! Posting on Pigchesky's website is hardly impartial in my book.

NO GOOD DEED . . . . . . .

Last night after the debate, I stood around listening to the crowd as they spoke to the League of Women Voters about the event, and it was obvious that there were two different "camps" speaking.

As the apparent fans of Dibileo spoke to the LWV VOLUNTEERS, I heard them thanking the ladies for the job they did and complimenting them for the work they do for the community.

When I listened to those who were fans of the mayor, all I heard was criticism. Criticism about the questions, the lighting and more importantly about the location. They complained that it was too small and that they should have chosen larger accomodations for such an important event.

Once again, it was explained that the reason they use the U of S so often is that the U does not charge for the facility, sound system, or stages chairs and tables. The scranton high school charges several hundred dollars for use of the auditorium, to pay for sound system people, maintenence people, and a teacher that they require to be there. Lackawanna College charges for the auditorium, sound system, and even the ushers that are not really needed. In addition, LJC does not provide chairs, podiums or even tables for the stage. That must be brought in.

The LWV is made up of volunteers who survive solely on their dues and what little donations they receive after events such as last nights debate. The grand total they received after last nights full house was about $50 in donations. Can't really rent big auditoriums with that.

To the mayors fans I have one simple suggestion. Next time a group of VOLUNTEERS offer their time and services to you, simply say THANK YOU and walk away.

To the fans of Mr Dibileo, all I say to you is "YOU'RE WELCOME!"

Well the room was quite small ... I know that it ended up being so crowded that many did not even make it into the room. I am sure if you had to stand in the hall you more likely than not couldn't even hear what was going on.

All in all it was a good night ... could the accomodations have been better ... yes I believe they could have been ...

And IHave your right about PeterPeter ... I would definetly say that is a member of the LWV ...

The Debate will be on again tonight at 9:00 PM for those of you who missed it. I encourage all to watch it.
