I was across the hall looking around this morning and well this particular topic gave me a little chuckle. How stupid are these people ...... never mind that was a silly question.
I thought that I was going to find an ad on this site for this business and instead all I found was the electric city sign ... how does that constitue a free in kind contribution to the Mayor's campaign? And what makes the kids across the hall feel as though the taxpayers have paid for it.
But what truly gets me is anything about wasted "TAXPAYER" money being posted over there since thier fearless leader Joe Pilchesky is someone who chooses not to be a "TAXPAYER" and well there it is on the Site that he owns ... hmmmm ... makes one laugh a bit ... or at least it did me.
Hmm....free ad? Doherty's name? No other ad? Is it a contribution in kind hidden as an OECD paid ad? Where are other ads from other companies? Hmmmm.....
Wow ... now can you imagine that ... these people have little to do with their time if they are sitting around thinking about the Mayor conspiring to recieve free Ad's ... Get a life guys and gals ... and remember when you think about the taxpayers ... remember that you really don't give a rat's a$$ about any of them or you would not think it's ok for Pilchesky to owe so much in taxe to the City/School Dist./County .... Hypocrite's that's what you all are!
Oh and yes Shari in case you are lurking around the corner about to call me a lumper as you usually do ... I did lump every one of you together on this one! And that was my intention today!

I know I'm blind as a bat, but I could barely make out Doherty's name. If it was a shameless political ad, then it was a damn poor shameless political ad.

They are nuts Ag ... what the fail to realize is this ... He is the Mayor and he is going to have his name on things ... this is what they call ad's ... now if he didn't promote the city they would call him names and say he doesn't care about doing his job ... and since he is promoting the city ... well they call it free ad's ... the guy won't ever be able to do the right thing in the eyes of Pilchesky and the Kids across the hall ...

There was an article in the Scranton Tmes-Tribune the other day about a student who designed a green shirt for St Patrick's Day. It was a student from (I believe) Scranton High. The back of the shirt had a semblance of The Electric City sign. (I say semblance, because it wasn't an actual "picture" of the actual sign.) The shirt looked great and NOwhere did it have Doherty's name.
FYI doomers, the Electric City sign is an icon of Scranton's history. I remember as a child the Electric City sign, just as I remember seeing
"C A S E Y" "I N N" "C A S E Y I N N"
flashing all big and red as I watched it from my bedroom window.
Just as I will always remember the Times' Christmas Tree and how my little sister and I watched to see it light up for the first time on Thanksgiving night and every night thereafter for the rest of the season.
how my parents always took us to Burschel's for ice cream ... how that roast beef lunch at the Charl Mont was a special treat ... how we'd go window shopping at The Globe ... how Silver Bells always played at Oppenheim's at Christmas ...
... all iconic locations from Scranton's history. If janet evans could bring back the flashing Casey Inn sign, or Burschel's Dairy, or the Charl Mont, I'd maybe think about sending a vote her way, but that ain't gonna happen. I am thrilled the Electric City sign was refurbished, a pleasant memory from my childhood remains fresh in my mind.
It's funny how they vascillate between their bull$hit topics and rip so many people from stem to stern (for some valid reasons - I'll give them that), and it really doesn't bother me. But when they talk about that sign or try to make light of the refurbishments around the city which have been done by this mayor, it irritates the crap out of me. Not because it's Doherty, hell no. But I have such fond memories of various places in this city, which 40 years ago were so different than they are today.
I am not a big fan of "change", but I while i was waiting at the southbound light on the corner of Lackawanna and Washington last week, I noticed the building facades in the 500 block of Lackawanna Avenue. They are simply beautiful.
I know about that shirt girl, I didn't buy one but I saw them and they are really nice and you are right Doherty's name is not on it ........... Anywhere
