Seriously, has he? I think the consensus among most was that the Firemen got the short end of the legal stick with the recent court award, now we have Pilchesky claiming that the FOP "won" after getting the same thing?

 Doherty BIG LOSER in FOP Arbitration award. (cops award mirrors fireman)

I don't have a copy of the award yet, but the panel of arbitrators have ruled in favor of the FOP on every issue from raises in pay to health care coverage. I'll post it when I get it, but if you've read the firemens' award, you've read the cops' award.

He was shouting from the rooftops how bad of a screwing the firefighters got ... now it's god for the cops? What's up with that?

If this was such a grand victory for the firefighters, why then spend the money on an appeal to the State Supreme Court?

Pilchesky has all the credibiliy of the Iraqi Propaganda Minister. Tanks? What tanks?

The only group that won in the last victory were the laywers...on both sides.

They're talking about two different awards. The latest cop awardcovers from 2008 to 2014. I believe it's in the neighborhood of a 45% pay increase over the length of the award.

I don't know any other details of the decision; I'm sure it must include changes in insurance co-pays, etc.

Thanks Balko...I just saw that; apparently the police just got the same big award that the firemen got (and lost) a while ago.

Regardless, the point still stands: the only winners here will be the lawyers.
