What downtown businesses have closed in last four years?
I seem to recall a similar thread about this a few months back, but I couldn't find it. I know the Mayor has been touting his accomplishmentsin renovating area parks (except for the South Side Complex which he illegally sold) ; it sounds like he is getting ready to kick into full re-election mode.

Doherty will soon flood the airwaves with propaganda on the dog park, the treehouse, thepark on Orchard Street, and the "coming soon" newly renovated green house. He will alsosurely make mention of thevibrant, adrenalin pumping downtown area, complete with three new parking garages!

While the parks will benice areas for homeless folks who like to be near nature, the parking garages make decent shelters(and bathrooms) for homeless people who enjoy a more urban environment. Withthe economy in a downward spiral, and Scranton businesses closing fast, there soon will be plenty of homeless to occupy these places.

But seriously speaking, weshould list the downtown businesses that have closed in the past few years while Doherty has bragged about the renaissance taking place. I'll begin the list with the ones I remember.

1. Flashbacks bar/nightclub.
2. Tink's Entertainment center
3. Helen Schwartz gifts (soon to relocate elsewhere)

Feel free to add to the list.

Now ... you have poster posting that Empire Beauty School moved out ... well yes they did ... about 10 years ago ... Not Doherty's Fault!

Hoban's Parent/Teacher store has moved out ... again about 10 or more years ago ... again ... Not Doherty's fault!

Now they write about Hoban's Restaruant Supply ... do we think they meant to say W.H. Coon co. ... not sure but again that was more than 4 years ago ...

Poster Outtahere wrote: Holy Cross High School to close and merge with Dunmore campus. (560 students plus faculty and staff no longer shopping, eating, etc. in town.)

Now you tell me how the above could possibly be Mayor Doherty's fault .... come on guys/gals lets get real!
