There are many rock solid arguments and issues in this election, but they're no different from elections past. It's all the same crap about the economy. However, this election has two additional elements that have this country torn.

1. The war. Americans overall want it over, but still want to feel free from terrorits. They can't get both. It's fight the war on Main St. over there or on Main St. over here. I say fight it over there, but fightit, and stop playing drain the defense fund at the expense of our soldiers.

2. Racism. Very subjective word that imports more sensitivity than warranted in these times. Used more by sensationalists than anyone else. The Republican Party has never held the office for three straight terms. The county will have to give up leadership to its first black president to disturb that. I don't believe that it's ready to do that, regardless of polls and other social barometers. One man is not gonig to change this country, especially when it's a man who has taken over 750 million in campaign funds.

Now can you picture Edith hearing/reading this and then thanking Joe profusely for imparting the wisdom? Anyway....

"...the same crap about the economy"
Well, many of us don't have ill-gotten estate funds to live off of, so maybe the "crap about the economy" hits us more than it does Joe & Edith. As far as I'm concerned, there are only two issues in this election: Taxes and Healthcare. Anyway, getting back to Joe's infinite wisdom:

1. The War...now where have we heard Joe's rant before? Hell I can't even give Pilchesky credit for being original. Likemost "arm chair quarterbacks", he likes to talk loudly, but carry no stick.

2. Racism...Joe is an expert at racism, being that he's actually experienced at practicing it. Big shocker here...the racist downplaying the role of racism in an election. Ok, now how many local people do you know have called a black man a '******' in a public forum? I can think of only one. Of course Joe is going to claim that it's used by sensationalists, because he personally believes that it's ok to call anyone anything, well as long as your name is Joe Pilchesky. Oh, and what does the phrase "give up leadership to it's first black president" mean? It sounds like Obama is somehow mugging the American people. As for Obama's campaign fundraising, doesn't he (or anyone else) think that, for example, George W. Bush would have raised that much or more in his Presidential bids if he could have? The notion that Obama is somehow tainted because of raising campaign money is silly at best, stupid at worst. Judge Obama negatively on his proposed policies and experience...but don't judge him differently for acting like every other politician out there.

Personally, I do believe that racism exists, and I do believe that a very small minority of people would never vote for any minority individual for President, no matter who they are. That kind of "cancer of the soul' is something they have to live with, both in this life and in the next. The rest of us can decide to vote for Obama or McCain based upon where they stand on the issues.

Great post Ag ....

My issues are Healthcare and the Economy ... I do not believe that the state of our Economy is "crap" ... I like Obamas plan for healthcare more than I like McCains ... and I am hoping that he can begin to turn the economy around ... I think it's going to take years ... but hopefully ... he can make a start.

Racisim ... you are right on that one Joe isn't ready ... more likely than not most of DD isn't ready ... but I have to wonder how Sam Patilla and Anti have reacted to this particular post by Joe ... I wonder if they are still looking at Joe through the rose colored glasses that they always seem to we wearing ... did they jump on Joey's bandwagon and decide that the USA isn't ready for a black leader???

I for one am not looking a the color of anyone's skin here ... I am looking at what the person is going to do that I am in favor of ... and the person for me just happens to be Obama.
