The chief's punishemnt fits the crime. This is a political jab orchistrated byt he unions. There is name calling going on all the time, this time Elliott was dumb enough to cross the line and he is paying for it. Political posturing at its best.

I think that the justification may be this ... Chief Elliot ... although he did as Ag points out use poor judgement by making the statement he has made ... did not call them "Whores" ... what he did was use a very politically incorrect statement referring to the overtime that these women worked. "Overtime Whores" meaning that they love to work overtime ... should he have not said that ... you bet he should have chosen his words better ... but did he mean that they were whores ... not at all ... he is human ... his punishment is ... in my opinion very fitting ... and should he do this again ... well then ... I say fire him ... but not for the first offense. Just my opinion.

I being a woman can tell you ... if someone called me a whore ... I would be offended ... but if someone called me an overtime whore ... well I don't think I would take that any other way than the way it was meant ... someone who loves to work overtime ... and possibly someone who does not like to share the overtime with my co workers ... I think that's all he meant ... in this day and age we have to be so careful of what we say ... maybe next time Chief Elliot will think before he lets those words spill out of his mouth!

If Dave Elliott made the same comment directed toward two of his best male officers, the three of them would have had a chuckle, a pat on the back and two guys would have had a few extra overtime bucks in their paychecks the following week.

Dave Elliott or ANY boss should know better than to scratch his balls, use vulgar language or fart in the presence of a woman. We're a fickle bunch and it depends on which way the wind blows on any given day to explain how we will react to any situation.

Personally, I think Dave picked the wrong two women (or wrong day, for that matter) to make a rude comment. These two women could have just given him a dirty look, called HIM an equally rude name and gotten on with their day - but no, they had to make a stink about it. They had to push some buttons. If it was really such a big deal, they would have made it an issue right then and there, instead of talking about it with their girlfriends over apple-tinis. All they've done is make it fodder for that numb nuts across the hall.

My advise to these two dames ... Pull on your big-girl panties and get back to work and stop worrying about how you can get your names on the internet.

The problem with the Mayor replacing Elliott, is that no one wants the job. Elliott had it removed from the bargaining unit and if someone takes it,, they will lose all their protection when and if the administration changes.
