They continue retarded by the minute at JOey LAnD

One of the most retarded posts (me actually think they're just moaning as usual). My comments in Red. And by the way Hardcore - the U had their graduation ceremonies last weekend, it was well attended and the arena was packed with family and friends. Talk about being a day late and a dollar short or is that a brick short?

Where is the University of Scranton's graduation?
Where are the graduation ceremonies being held for the University of Scranton? At the "John Long Center?" Of course not, too tacky. (No they haven't had graduation ceremonies in there in yearsbecause grads would have to limit the number of family/friends that could attend - think size) At the Scranton Cultural Center? No, parking problems make it difficult. (Again nothing to do with Parking - the Cultural Center is even smaller than the Long Center - DOlt!! Besides maybe it was a Jesuit plot to keep the union employees from making some extra money to work the event!!)

So what'sDa U to do? Why, have their graduation ceremonies in Luzerne County, at Wachovia arena, of course!(That's right, the place was packed with family & friends)

That's right folks, what has often been described as the biggest income generator for the city of Scranton has decided to hand out the sheepskinsin another town. Local hoteliers struggling for occupancy won't reap the benefits of family and friends staying in Scranton, nor will restauranteurs enjoy and increase indiningcustomers. (Bull - the Scranton area Hotels and Resturants did well on Saturday/Sunday) The families will be staying in Wilkes Barre (Not all of them - DOlt!!), bringing a one day cash infusion to the Diamond City, not the Electric one. (Both cities benefitted Goof!!)

Thanks, U of S, I can't wait for new sidewalks and period lighting on Mulberry Street!! (Yes you should thank the U for all it does for the city of Scranton. Why not ask your fearless leader Joey then to renounce his kids education and diplomas from the U if it means so much to you!!)

'Hardcore' is one of the more stable posters at DD, or he at least seems that way to me. I did read this post before, and I guess I see where he was going with it, but if this is the best he can use to beat on the University of Scranton, then it's a bit of a reach. As you point out FDSP, there simply isn't a venue large enough in Scranton to hold the graduation. At more than 1,500 graduates, assuming 4 attendees each plus a few hundred extra people, you're getting close to 10,000, which is an arena sized audience.

I don't consider myself to be a fan of the University of Scranton, but I do acknowledge that the city is better off with them than without them.

They did have graduation ceremonies from the Arena ... but they also had graduation ceremonies in Scranton as the graduating class could not all be accommodated at one time. On Saturday May 24th there was a ceremony in Scranton (not sure of the exact location) and on Sunday May 25 1000 + graduated from the Arena. There was a full parking lot ... I parked all the way in the back of the lot ... felt like the longest walk of my life .... sun was very hot beating off all of those cars.

Inside there were very few seats left as they were all filled ... I would have gotten there much earlier had I know that it would have been that crowded. I arrived at 11:15 for a noon start... I would have like a seat with a better view of our graduate ... God knows we have waited long enough for this day.

I wouldn't think that Wilkes-Barre would have had enough hotel rooms to accommodate all who were there from out of town and out of State.

It was a beautiful ceremony (little long winded at times) ... and you know what ... it was not about making money for Luzerne or Lackawanna Counties ... it was about young people who had worked very hard for 4 years to realize a dream ... it was the beginning of a long journey ... a celebration ... and it was their day ... so I think the U made the right decision ... because the Arena was barely big enough to accommodate this event. The shame of it all was the graduating class had to be split because there was no place that could accommodate all of the graduates.
