Let me see, Pilchesky...

...get Shimkus kicked off the ballot because he is a liar, etc.
...which leaves the election for Kevin Murphy, an avowed Doherty supporter
...which means that Shimkus runs write-in campaign on the Republican side
...which Shimkus wins, handily
...setting up a general election fight between Shimkus (who Joe hates) and Murphy (who Joe hates)

SMOOTH!

And some people actually think this guy is somehow politically savy, right?

Here's the real scoop for our DD readers (in other words the truth Pilchesky will not allow you to read): Pilchesky went after Shimkus BECAUSE HE WAS AN EASY TARGET and it resulted in an EASY COURTROOM WIN for Pilchesky. This has as much to do with political strategy and common good as Burger King has to do with upscale decor and fine dining.

Typical Election Day for DD.

Goal 1: Remove incumbent Shimkus to send message no one is safe.

Result Shimkus easily wins Rep. Write in and I would have to look back but was close to or received more votes as a WRITE IN DEM. than Jan did when she tried to run.

Goal 2: Show Hillary how much the city and everyone else hates Doherty by voting for Obama because Doherty backed and held fund raisers for Hillary.

Result Hillary wins by a needed 10% and is still alive and fighting for the Presidency


BUT, Joe will come out today and say he knew this was all going to happen. He now has Shimkus where he wants him, blah blah blah.

They wonder why they keep getting beat. Its simple, your vote only counts as one, not as how many multiple screen names you have!

I was wrong. Shimkus has double the votes Jan received, despite Pilchesky efforts then and now!

Clinton takes Lackawanna county by a nearly 3 to one margin. Hats off to Joe Pilchesky for once again publicly demonstrating exactly how little influence he has in Scranton politics.

You have to give credit where it's due. Shimkus garnered an impressive blockof write-ins on the D side, far more than I anticipated. I figured him for 2500(+/-), but 4,329 is a very respectable number. Then again, the presidency election brought out record numbers of voters, and there happens to be a strong anti-Murphy presence for those who know Murphy's crony-loyalty history. So, it's off to November we go. A pat on the back to Shimkus who showed up with enough drive and determination to claim his prize, and he finally brought his bride-to-be out into the public for a pic instead of keeping her insulated.Clearly, Murphy benefitted from the absence of a contender on the ballot, but such is politics. Murphy can look forward to a struggle if Shimkus got any kind of an education out of this experience.

I get it! I get it! The reason Joey boy and the goons have not yet made any impact on any election is that they have not made a"concerted" effort. Hahahahah Hey Rock Head how concerted can 30 people really be? You idiot. You are irrelevent as it relates to area elections.....no it's worse than that.... it actually seems to really help a candidate when you freaks come out against them. I agree with sarge. We should make a concerted effort to oust Shimkus, thereby showing Murphy how we can do the same to him if he gets elected. We need to spread the word to other voters about how much power they could wield if only they would join the movement to hold officials accountable. Accountable to the voters, that is....

Therein lies the problem with DD/Pilchesky "credibility":

If you mix lies...
...Mayor Doherty is being appointed to a state job by Gov. Rendell
...Mayor Doherty caused someone's suicide
...Judy Gatelli had a __________ (I am not even going to repeat that one)
...All of the Irish in Scranton in-breed
...Italians are "bag men" for the Irish
...Mayor Doherty is importing Jews to cleanse the Hill Section

with nuggets of truth...
...there are issues in the Single Tax Office
...Mayor Doherty has helped to create the situation with Police/Fire unions

then the lines between "truth" and "lie" get blurred, and credibility is destroyed.


The remarkable thing is that there are dozens of posters at DD that fail to make this very basic connection.
