Pesonally, I don't normally give money to politicians or political parties...I just think that there are organizations that need the money more; for example I donate to children's charities and my alma mater, Penn State. I also think that $2,300 a person is steep for a non-metropolitian area fundraiser. That's said, I honestly don't care if the Mayor does this and who attends. Simply put, it's not my money, so why care? Yes, you will see the "woo is us, poor peasants" crap at DD, but part of me thinks that's just another way of saying "I wish we had enough money to do that kind of thing".

As predicted the usual whiners are at it across the hall. This particular post proves your point Agam. Whining about who was there, all the while hanging around the edges wishing it were them.
CLINTON VISIT I was across the street. Judy Gatelli as also there! She was also on the news!
As to your question, I feel pretty much as you do. Would I spend that much money to see someone? No Do I care if someone else does? No They have every right to spend their money anyway they want. I for one would rather be on a cruise ifI had 2 grand to throw around :))
They've just got a bug up their collective arse because pilcheski can't get six people together to raise enough cash to help defray the cost for some of his postage.
I'll bet there was a smile on that kisser, though when he saw John Cole's editorial cartoon today.
They're taking it as a compliment. Can you believe it?
...well, yeah, of course you can.
Nevermind the fact that it was completely backhanded, and was more mocking the childish nature of that site (and ours, too, to some extent--let's be honest)and it's overall triviality than congratulating it for its' relevance in or impact upon anything at all regarding politics in NEPA.
Happens ten times a day all over this great land, Something has to pay for those TV ads. I'd feel offended if they didn't think we could produce the players to foot the bill.
Who gives a s**t if someone wants to blow a vacation on shaking hands with the ex-pres. Some guys collect cars, others collect stamps. Some collect pictures with famous people. Non issue.
I thought the cartoon was cute...although I was thinking it would have been even better if the lady sitting behind them looked like Franus wearing her Elmer Fudd hat.
Of course the DD folks will take it as a compliment though...Pilchesky is the biggest attention whore in NEPA. The old man will not doubt on his Viagra perscription though, as this one back-handed mention of DD will keep him aroused for a month.
Damn, two paragraphs and two disgusting thoughts...I must have had a long day.

I don't care who attended ... and I don't care how much they charged to get in ... hell I remeber past candidates for county commish candidates charging $1500 per plate for a fundraiser ... didn't care about that either.
They are villifying anyone who attended and Hillary Clinton for allowing Mayor Doherty to support her ... and I'm sure that anyone in the country that supports Hillary will now become a Doobie in the small minds of the kids across the hall. They are so small minded ... and I have to wonder how they would feel if someone tried to tell them who they should support ... they would not like it at all and I'm sure they would be telling Joe to file some sort of lawsuit for infringement on their rights.

If I had $2300 to piss away to meet a former President, I'd be there too. I would prefer to meet either of the Bush's, but I'd have paid $2300 to be able to stick my pinky out and have beenie weenies and hotdogs in a blanket with Clinton.
What really cracks me up is this .... the Fundraising Party at Mayor Doherty's house was esentially a private party ... if some were given tickets ... it was up to the Clinton's and the Mayor ... it was not up to anyone else ...
RE: DOherty hosting Bill Clinton fundraiser at DOherty's house!! Maybe that is how Judy and family got their tickets. $9,200 is a lot of money to attend a gala in a former nursing home and that is what the total cost of the 4 tickets Judy was given was. Is that an ethics violation? Perhaps we should have the DA investigate. What the hell was I thinking saying that? Judy is Andy's pal Doherty's pal. Never, never ever will Andy investigate a Doherty butt kisser!
I do not see how attending a party could be an ethics violation ... how is being an invited guest a violation of ethics?
Why would the DA investigate this? What is the crime? It was a party some paid ... some didn't ... it happens at every fundraiser ... but somehow it's only a problem when it involves Judy and her family ... and Sherry and her family ... get a life ... I have to wonder why you all spend so much time on this particular subject!

You would need a full-time DA just to investigate the things brought up everytime someone at DD raises a finger. This whole DD thread has nothing to do with ethics and everything to do with the fact that some of the DD folks are simply jealous.
To quote that great philosopher Kermit the Frog: "It's not easy being green".
