Doug Miller's crime? Why he doesn't project "the right" image for the DD goons. How sick and pathetic. This is definintely one for the authorities.

If the kid was packing a pistol, was tatooed up one side and down the other, spoke filth like a longshoreman and wore his baggy pants down off his ass, I could see them having negative things to say about him.

I'm not saying Doug Miller is an innocent, don't get me wrong ... I've never met the kid ... but he is speaking his mind in a peaceful and cognative manner. He hasn't been disruptive at meetings. There's never been the need to drag him kicking and screaming from the podium.

How is that awful?? I just don't get it

DD members love to prey upon those who they deem to be weak and defenseless. Why? They don't have enough testicular fortitude to pick on folks their own size. Doug Miller may be 17, but he's certainly garnered my respect. While a lot of teenagers in Scranton are busy smoking, having parties, hitting up football games, skateboarding on Lackawanna Avenue, etc., he and his friends are doing something positive and CONSTRUCTIVE for the city. It is thanks to the efforts of he and his fellow junior city council members that Nay Aug Park has a new handicapped-accessible swingset. It is thanks to these same folks that a park in West Side was spruced up this past summer. It is thanks to these same KIDS that a community center in South Side will have better lighting soon. How much have folks like Fay Franus, Les Spindler, etc. done for the city lately besides open their mouths and permit their vocal cords to flatulate?

The folks at DD deemed me as "weak" as well when they learned I was just a 20-year-old male from outside the city with no political connections. When they learned of my sexual orientation, I became even more vulnerable in their eyes. Little did they know that I don't back down from verbal battles, and when intellect comes into play, most of them are quite honestly NO challenge to me---with the exception perhaps of Dan Hubbard, Joe Pilchesky, and whoever that seemingly intelligent"Eddie Haskell" character is, I could devour the rest of them for breakfast in a debate. I suppose fear that I was convincing enough to rally some of these mentally-malleable folks to my side was what prompted Joe to ban me in the end. After all, the only offense I was guilty of was disagreeing with him.

If and when Doug Miller ever feels threatened, I'd be proud to jump intothering to come to his aid. I've had to deal with bullies my whole life for one reason or another, and it would be my pleasure to defend others from these goons who are simply miserable because society has eschewed them. I'm not saying he doesn't come across as being rather pompous and a bit ****y himself, butDoug hasstill done much more concretelyfor this city than the Legion of Loons ever has or ever will.

For what it's worth I know the types of folks we're dealing with. A relative of mine was harassed because some folks who disagreed with my point of view on City-Data displaced their frustrations upon him/her instead of upon me, where the blame belongs. Folks who are unintelligent enough to drag uninvolved family members into a political foray truly aren't worthy of my intellectual prowess. If these folks have issues with my liberal and often controversial beliefs, then let them take the effort to contact me not innocent bystanders.

Doug, I know you read this board (along with city officials), and if you ever feel like you need help in doing battle with these morons, feel free to hit me upon MySpace, Facebook, or wherever else. I knew right from the start that I was battling folks who had less culture than a cup of yogurt when they started to attack me for being gay instead of addressing my ideas for revitalizing the city. Attacking an opponent's social or personal life is characteristic of a weak mind, and I don't view the Legion of Loons or DD ashaving credible ideas as a result. When I saw people defending the usage of racial slurs as well, I knew these folks were the barnacles who were dragging Scranton down into the abyss. After all, it is much less exhausting to drag others down to your pitiful level than it is to exalt yourself up to their expectations.
