In total, he claims the suits have cost him between $40,000 and $50,000, including court filing fees and research. The filing fee per suit is $109.75. And the cost to the taxpayers?
Last weeks filing asked the court to order Mr. Doherty to fire his entire administration because, Mr. Pilchesky says, it is incompetent, and the mayor violated the citys state-mandated recovery plan by paying high salaries to a business administrator, public safety director, human resources boss and others.
In another suit argued Tuesday, Mr. Pilchesky squared off against Redevelopment Authority attorney Carl Greco in an attempt to block the citys sale of the South Side Complex to the University of Scranton.
A carpenter, Mr. Pilchesky acts as his own lawyer with his wife, Joanne, often at his side.
The bald, clean-shaven 57-year-old, who lives only steps from the mayor, is a self-proclaimed spokesman for the people.
I was once a supporter of Mr. Doherty, Mr. Pilchesky said. I supported his first campaign, voted for him, and even had Doherty signs in my yard, but all that has changed.
One point of contention: Mr. Pilchesky said the mayor has repeatedly ignored public information requests hes made.
When pressed, Mr. Pilchesky admitted hes never actually requested a meeting with Mr. Doherty, something he now acknowledges probably wont happen. So he just jumped the shark? He never tried to act like a civilized person and ASK for relief from his issue? Nice example for children on how adults handle problems.
Im sure now he'll tell me to speak to his lawyers because of the ongoing litigation, Mr. Pilchesky said.
Mr. Pilchesky often portrays himself as a thief on his Web site and in interviews. By his own admission, he will exaggerate facts to get a point across. And pretending to be other people by posting in their name Joey? In my house we call exaggerating... a lie.
Hes looking for attention, and none of his lawsuits have any merit, Mr. Doherty said. I would say nothing has changed there! :)
Former city Parks and Recreation Director Bob Scopelliti was often a target of criticism on Mr. Pilcheskys Web site.
I am glad I no longer have to deal with that aspect of life, Mr. Scopelliti said Tuesday. I can go home and just relax after a hard days work and not worry about (Mr. Pilchesky) and all the other stuff.
Acknowledging that his filing of lawsuits probably wont make much of a difference, Mr. Pilchesky said he will continue to speak out, even if he has to do it alone. Hummmmm..does this mean he is ackowledging that they are "friviolous"?
I seem to be situated poorly in life, Mr. Pilchesky said outside court Tuesday. The rest of the crabs and bottom feeders seem to gravitate toward me. Interesting discription of the flock across the hall in my opinion, not a terribly nice one, but it seems accurate. Of course if I were one of the flock (which thank heavens I am not) this would be cause for some concern. However, it seems they do what they are told even after he says exactly what he thinks of them.
While he didnt identify who the crabs and bottom feeders were, Mr. Pilchesky does have numerous followers who post supportive messages regularly on his Web site. Yet, only two people came to court Tuesday to support his argument after he had advertised the hearing for several months on his site. I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that is because despite some of his posters seeming to have multiply screen names, only one person can actually appear. :)
