Maybe the Tax Increase 4 years ago wasn't enough to get your attention, I sure hope all the current Scandals do !!!! If anyone votes to keep the current commishioners in, they deserve any increases, lost jobs, or anyother outside investigations they get. I do not want to hear any crying from anyone if they don't lose by the 3 or 4 to 1 ratio......furious

See what happens when a few powerful people decide they dont want you in office anymore. Jeez, one thing after another for this guy. JOe is like a lost 2 year old in a busy mall with this one. He didnt know what he was getting into but now he is there and is having a hard time keeping his head above water.

I remember the last ones we had in there I believe we had 21 years of nothings no improvements on anything, a prision scandal with the warden having prisioners doing work at his house . Please give me a break we had a 48 percent increase now over the last two years we got some back and look at all the work being done I for one am voteing for the republicans they are the movers and the shakers the DemocRATS will put us back in time I am so sick Of Mike Washo with his famous saying they don't tell me anything. News flash Mike it is not their job to tell you anything it is youre job to ask or find out. At least earn some of youre salary. Keep Lackawanna County moving forward Keep the comissioners we have in now long live the Republicans.

My thoughts on the County Commissioner candidates:

O'Brien - Funny, but I didn't think that having a TV show on Sunday morning qualifies you to be a county executive. I'm not sure what this guy stands for, other than he doesn't like Cordaro and Munchak. Has a certain Clinton-esque air about him...and I'm not necessarily being complimentary.

Washo - I know what he is against, but I've never been sure what he is for & seems to have rodent-like qualities.

Munchak - Exercised exceedingly bad verbal judgement with the prison birth. Deserves to be booted just for that.

Cordaro - Has huevos the size of churchbells & once said "Mr Pilchesky's record speaks for itself", so I do kind of like him. However he too has exercised very bad judgement with his financial reports.

I guess this means that I should vote at random, because in my mind the choices are all rather bad.

Lastly, as for the tax increase, I don't entirely blame Cordaro/Munchak. The previous commissioners spent money like a drunken sailor on leave in Bangkok, so the bill was going to come due eventually. The C/M mistake was promising the tax cut.

Who'd have thought running a freakin' county prison could be so tough. It will have been the deciding factor in the two latest general commissioners elections once the dust settles.

My prediction: minority commissioner Munchak and Cordaro is toast.

I have to go with Ag on this one ... it's a crap shoot since there are no appealing candidates running for this office.

Oh and LOD ... Cordaro did the same thing as Washo when he was minority commissioner ... you tell me that when he sat there for 4 years that he didn't know that there was $20 million in debt owed ... come on ... why didn't he ask? Don't hold Washo to stricter standards than you held Cordaro to ... this is only my opinion and I guess in the end you and I will have to agree to disagree on this particular point.

People don't have a reason to dislike Corey O'Brien (and there are enough people who vote straight party), so he will probably win by default. Enough loyal troops will also vote for Washo to give him the #2 slot. As for Cordaro vs Munchak, I'd actually rather have Cordaro than Munchak (after the prison debacle), but Cordaro tends to stir strong emotions pro and against...and I think the against has the upper hand at the moment.

Always one to look for the positives, consider this: Serial-Plaintiff Pilchesky and crew don't like any of these guys.

Bob Cordaro should be removed from office as quickly as possible, even if it takes a criminal indictment to do so. This man is the most corrupt commissioner in the history of Lackawanna County, and that is saying something. Any accomplishments of his are easily negated by his complete lack of ethics and his utter inability to tell the truth. Nothing is completed without an element of shady behavior, and his arrogance is breathtaking.

Washo, O'Brien, and Munchak, in that order...and my view of Mr. Munchak is deteriorating quickly. It appears that he has been proudly sticking his head in the sand for four years now.

Like to throw my opinion into this debate, I'm support Commissoner Washo and Corey O'Brien,
Just a prediction; Once Cordaro is voted out of office, I am sure he is going to find a high paying job somewhere in the prvate sector.

perhaps he already has a deal with Mandalay in the works after he takes the team out of town with him? don't kid yourselves, Cordaro used to sit there twice a month and say that no one told him anything. reason for the tax hike #1. reason #2 is ridiculous. how long did they hang their hat on the fact that they didn't have a recent audit in their hands when promising the tax hike? well, seems like we had to wait almost two years!!!! for an audit from these guys. no one is crying about that. and the prison??? i think i'd rather hear about inmates working on cars (not a bad sideline and something that could take you somewhere after your stint in the pokey is up, not excusing it though) than having a baby born on the floor and hear the next morning that everything was excellent security-wise(that's not even a word or phrase) next, you have the woman-beater who handles workmens' comp and has an interesting vocabulary in public. what next?????? this is only the stuff you're hearing about. i don't mind they sold Montage, but their pockets seem to be getting very heavy, huh???
