RE: Is it true that David Evans is reading and editing Janet's email? Mayor Doherty has no email address listed on the official website. I believe the way to contact him is through a personal visit to his office; a telephone call, or a letter. I bet if you contacted Ms. Evans in one of those ways, you'd get a response. The city clerk's office takes phone messages and receives mail on behalf of council members. I don't know the propriety of someone knocking on their door, but perhaps some of them welcome that. I don't know that any of them are obligated to have an email available to the public. What they do for the public's convenience is up to them. Ultimately it is up to you as to what conduct you expect from them, and if you don't like it, you know where the voting booth is.
In my opinion this issue seems very important to you, so I suggest you pursuing getting the answers you need. If it is important to others, they should also investigate. If you contact her and receive a response that you believe should be made public you can send copies to us and after we verify the documents we'd be glad to scan them in and post them.
"Mayor Doherty has no email address listed on the official website."Actually, the e-mail to the mayor's office is, in fact, listed on the website. His e-mail address is cdoherty@scrantonpa.gov. I've e-mailed the Mayor once, and received a response from his personal secretary, the one whose job description includes handling the Mayor's correspondence, and as such is someone whom I would expect would have access to his e-mail account. I have no such expectation that Janet has her husband screening her e-mails. When I e-mail her, I expect a response from her. Or, rather, I expect some longwinded, rambling, and likely made up excuse about computer hackers to explain her complete lack of response and uncertainty as to whether or not I e-mailed her in the first place. In any event, I do not expect responses from Dave, or Chris, or the family dog. That's not who I e-mailed.
"I don't know that any of them are obligated to have an email available to the public. What they do for the public's convenience is up to them." Whether "obligated" to or not, the "Doherty Three", as well as Bill Courtright, all make their city sponsored e-mail addresses available to the public on the website. The only one who does not, now, it the councilwoman who is supposedly "for the people". Rationalize that, Joanne.
"Ultimately it is up to you as to what conduct you expect from them, and if you don't like it, you know where the voting booth is." This from a woman whose husband has vowed to begin serving lawsuits to Gatelli beginning at the September 11 meeting. Do you even read what you type, dummy, or have the slightest sense of the irony in that statement?
"If you contact her and receive a response that you believe should be made public you can send copies to us and after we verify the documents we'd be glad to scan them in and post them." How very Christian of you. However, the point is that there is now a great deal of uncertainty as to whether it's Janet, rather than Dave, who would be the one reading and responding to our concerns, given that Dave has admitted to screening her e-mail account. The e-mail account that, prior to this whole drama began to unfold, was the e-mail address she willingly publicised on the official City of Scranton website. Until she addresses this issue publicly, we cannot be sure that her responses are authentic Janet Evans responses and not Chris or Dave Evans scripted political bullsh!t responses.
Christ, Joanne, get a clue for once, would you please?
Typical enabling Bull$hit from Edith...and the oldest tricks in the book. In fact, you see that kind of nonsense playing out at a national political level to this day...whenever a conservative is caught with a hand in the cookie jar, some right wing talking head will immediately bring up the name Bill Clinton. Edith is no different here, simply bringing up the name Chris Doherty in an effort to divert from the central point of the DD thread: David Evans screens emails sent to his wife.
I really, really wish Edith, Joe Anti & company would learn a new trick or two. The old ones are getting boring.

I don't know the propriety of someone knocking on their door, but perhaps some of them welcome that. Am I supposed to take that as "since I'm too stupid too figure out his email address I suggest we knock on his home door?"
Please God, I've never asked for anything before in my life. Please let a doomer knock on the mayor's home door. Please.
PS: We win. Why are they even talking about emails? I guess the first council meeting of the fall term is les than two weeks away and the sweating has begun. Sorry Janet. Sorry doomers. The mayor's wife is smart enough to keep her mouth shut and leave his email alone. Janet's husband, not so much.
OMG Art surely you don't want that poor man and his family to have to deal with that do you?? LOL LOL LOL Wait...on second thought, yes I do! He would have a field day with them LOL LOL LOL I don't suppose we could talk him into taking pictures? NO? What if we beg? LOL LOL LOL
I can tell you he is quite proud of the fact that he sent those emails out ... I have heard this from more than one person ... he was bragging about it when he thought that I was the driver of the red volvo ... toooo bad I drive the maroon bomb! And I am quite proud of my vehicle ... I wouldn't trade it for a brand new red volvo ... not enough money in this world to make me give it up!
But as to Paul's post ... They have to find a way to divert the pressure off of Jan ... they like to portray her as the only councilperson who will be for the people ... all of the people ... and my opinion of her is that she is not for the people at all ... Jan is for Jan ... Jan is obviously for her son Chris ..., but other than that she is for nobody ... not even good old Dave ...
Key words for Dave: City of Scranton ... Mechanic ... wife ... what do those words mean to you Dave? I know what they mean ... can you figure it out?
Oh my God that was so DD of me!
