RE: Beatdown of Stacy Brown/TT on spins, lies and concealing the truth We get our NEWS on DD.Com.....who needs a news-paper
Now I am always respectful of police officers, and as a result I wasn't sure I even wanted to post this, but what the hell...I'll just pray that Nelson's actions as an officer of the law are a little more rational than his actions as a DD poster.
Anyway, this is one of the most moronic postings I've read in a long time. Remarkable when you consider it's only 10 words long.
...Apparently most of the DD goons need a newspaper (it's one word Nelson, btw), as they just love to copy and past Scranton Times articles.
...Fact Check Nelson? According to DD 'news', Chris Doherty was supposed to be working in Harrisburg by now. [Question to DD posters reading this: Would you like me to list a few dozen more examples?]
...The Scranton Times is essential to DD...because a superhero like Pilchesky needs a villainous organization to fight (think James Bond vs. SPECTRE), and we all know that the ICBM (damn, I meant ICN) can't bear that cross alone.
...When last checked, the Stacy Brown character assassination (I mean thread) had over 4600 views...pretty popular when you consider that he writes for a newspaper that the DD goons claim to not need.
But there is one 'newspaper' I do agree is not needed: the Union News, which is probably the most biased piece of crap ever written by someone other than that professional turd Rush Limbaugh.

Oh yeah, he is the FOP Treasurer. I wonder if, in that capacity, he had to help former officer & FOP President Stulgis estimate her disability payments after her (finger) injury?

Wow, had I known that dd.com had obits, court notes, local news that goes beyond the "ICN", sports, business, lifestyles, national and international stories, and more - I would have canceled my subscription long ago and logged on to dd.com every morning with my fresh cup of Joe.
What are Joe's plans to cover the Olympics in China next summer? Is he planning any Princess Di memorial coverage? I read that a local soldier was killed in Afghanistan Monday, will Joe be covering the funeral?
On an interesting side note; imagine that jackass coming to your home to investigate a crime or needing his help following an accident. I cringe at the thought of exactly how dumb he just may be.
In all honesty, I expected a Chris Doherty appointment to some cabinet-level position in Harrisburg. The mayor and governor seem to get along very well, and six years is enough time in an executive position to merit a move. So, I don't think the view was that unrealistic.
I agree with your logic on the Doherty appointment Glen, but the point I was trying to make was that this was presented as news...as a fact...at DD. One of many that have turned out to be utterly false.
Not to bust your chops Glen, but...
...Any insight on the DD news that Judy Gatelli was intentionally conspiring with Warden Donate to keep a certain someone in jail?
[Should I keep going? I have more...].
Look, I don't like everything that is reported in the Scranton Times, and I absolutely agree that they engage in slanted reporting...but SO DOES EVERY OTHER NEWSPAPER IN THIS COUNTRY. The stated idea by Nelson that a political gossip website is a valid source for news is really just retarded.

::: Wow, had I known that dd.com had obits, court notes, local news that goes beyond the "ICN", sports, business, lifestyles, national and international stories, and more - :::
Just watch out for the editorials -- they'd be a pisser
They'd be page one "stories." I'd be more concerned about letters to the editor. How will Joe have the time to write letters, columns, cover news, file lawsuits, beat the ICN, be a racist and homophobe and post as 20 different people on his website. Spreading himself thin. Hopefully Sam Patilla will quit his Times paper route and help Joe deliver his paper.
I was always under the impression that the main goal of any media outlet--radio, television, newspaper--was not so much unbiased reporting, but the selling of advertising. I really didn't think that it was that big of a secret. Look no further than the ad banner at the top of these websites. They weren't put there for free. Someone paid for it. The only reason a radio station plays music is to attract you to listen to the commercials. Who gave anyone the impression that the media was supposed to be unbiased? That's laughable.
The Federal Attorney General of America, United States division, said that to keep the appearance of unbiasedness alive, that I can't have advertisers. Besides, I'm not reporting any news.
At least that's what he told me in the letter me and my attorney both got in the mail.
Some one should ask Nelson if he recalls the exam scam days. Not sure if its the same Nelson or not, but I do believe he falls into the proper age group. What exactally does he do in the Police Department ? He should have some rank by now, or maybe that is why he is so bitter. Look into the mirror before you cast stones against your fellow officers........

No offense Legion, but listening to Rush is easier than thinking, that (along with the fact that a radio station can get his show for free) explains his many listeners.
I'll package that thought for you in a slightly different way:
Pilchesky Doherty evil, Evans good.
Limbaugh Democrates evil, Republicans good.
See the connection?

Don't we all wish we still had Jimmy Connors to kick around, it was so much easier....... 1. Lost arbitrations every year = pay raises and increases for all employees. 2. No accountability for cabnet members = employees running the city. 3. Employees running the city = citizens not getting anything for their tax dollars. 4. 12 years of Connors = the mess with the unions thinking they run the city and not management. Are you getting the picture yet ?
1. Doherty in office = accountability from Cabnet members. 2. Accountability from Cabnet members = Accountability from Employees. 3. Failure of employees to follow the rules = Disciplinary Action. 4. Disciplinary Action = Accountability. Maybe 12 years of employees doing nothing, or only what they want to do is the real reason for our city's mess.

Taylor you are very correct however don't kid yourselfe that Doherty has provided frineds some cushy jobs. Don't get me worng, to the victor goes the spoils, but just make sure that the city can move forward. I thihnnk he is doing a good job and I am glad he has weakend the unions in the area. They are more harm than good.
let me expand on the cusy jobs. I mean they dont have much accountability. Very low stress jobs, great benefits, decent pay and no worries. I would take that if some one offered it to me.
O.M.G. Legion, Rush, that pill popper is so far to the the right, he is bothering us lefties. Since we are drawing political lines, from the mouth of Rush, there is a 70 percent that our next president of the free world could be a democratic woman. Her husband's name is William Jefferson
If we have Hillary for President we all better leave this country we have the best health care system in the world . She wants to destroy it by having goverment controled Health Care called Hillary Care. People have to be responsible for their own health care and not expect the rest of us to pay for it you have to make personal choices in life if you choose to drive a Lincoln but can only afford a Honda don't expect the rest of us to pay for your'e health care buy your'e own if you can't afford it by the Honda and spend the rest on YOURE OWN HEALTH CARE.
A bit of free adivce from me to you: Avoid the slogans, buzz-words, etc. dished out by both the left and the right. The health care crisis in this country isn't a 'soundbyte' issue, despite what you might hear from Rotund Rush (or any Democratic Talking Head for that matter).
I do agree with the notion of personal choice, but consider this: President Bush, in this healthcare proposals, believes that you and I can be more successful in negotiating with heathcare provides than Microsoft, IBM, Prudential Financial, GM, etc. Funny, but I think those (and other multi-billion dollar) companies have far more leverage with the healthcare industry than I ever will...and yet they are unable to negotiate down rates. The notion that medical inflation can be driven down solely by having individuals buying individual healthcare policies is overly simplistic, silly, and potentially dangerous.
What I think needs to happen is this...the fact is that everyone in the chain of providing healthcare services in this country is expecting double digit profits year over year. That's what the private sector expects and rewards (I should know, as I work in the private sector). However, that's simply not reasonable for a commodity that is essential for human survival. Sure, if you don't like the fact that a new car costs too much you can shop around and buy a used one. However, you can't shop around when you have a heart attack and there are no used pacemakers. No, what needs to happen is that the profit motive for healthcare delivery in this country has to be tempered in some manner in order for medical inflation to be brought down to a reasonable level. Easier said than done, but never the less if there is no change in the fundamentals of the American healthcare system, you and I will continue to subsidize CIGNA's, MERCK, etc.'s 12% ROE year after year.
Oh, one last thought: the point has been raised that changes in the healthcare system in this country will lead to rationing. That's another example of silly, overly simplistic logic at work because there already is healtcare rationing in the United States today. Yes, Bill Gates can afford to get the best care that the US system can provide, but you and I are at the mercy of the big healthcare providers. That, my friend, is rationing at work.

We have a sub forum on health care ... and I have to say this ... if you are working a minimum wage job ... there is no way for you to afford any health care l.. but I guess this is a me me me society so why should we worry about those who cannot afford healthcare ... I'll tell you this simple reason why we should all be concerned ... and here it is ... those who cannot afford to pay drive up the costs for those of us who can afford ... the problem with that ... in this country there are more who cannot afford health care than those who can and eventually the costs will rise astronomically and there will only be health care for the Bill Gates of this world ... that's why we should all care!
