Just noticed that Janet Evans has no email contact listed on the City of Scranton council webpage. Wonder why she removed herpreviously listed verizonaccount?

Gee, I dunno. Maybe she discovered that someone was reading the emails sent to her, on official city business mind you, before she could. Now I don't know where I would ever get that idea, but it's just a thought.

Here's the best part of this; by removing her Verizon email address she basically confesses to everything we said here. Game. Set. Match. Nice knowing you Janet - tell Dave we said thanks for helping us prove everything we ever suspected about you.
I am not surprised at all ... but don't you guys think she must have known ... come on ... Davey Boy isn't that intelligent ... I doubt he is some sort of hacker ... so how did he get her password ... it's just my opinion ... but I think she knew all along and didn't care until Dave gave up the whole thing in emails to Art and myself. Now again that is just my opinion!

Her e-mail address was linked as recently as last week, when all this began.
I'm suprised it took her (or the City, at her request) this long to disable the link.
I wonder how long it will take to finally see a jevans@scrantonpa(dot)gov address linked to her name. I imagine that there is better security and more strict filtering going on under a city owned account than there is under a free Verizon account. It would also probably position Dave for some legal action if he continued to access her "new" Council account, no?
1st Forgive me Former preacher. I missed saying welcome to you in a different thread. Alow me to say it now....Welcome.
2nd Corbett is asking on his show whylittle missy Jan'se-mail is not actived or listed on scranton website. He finds it strange and is calling on her to "explain" This should be fun can't wait to hear her "explaination"
Well even if it was not online ... it was listed on Channel 61 as her official email ... I know for a fact that it was ...

Posting it like this implies that it is used for city business. Nothing states that it may also be used for personal correspondance, or that anyone other than her woudl have access to it.
...Janet must have forgotten to have this link disabled as well...

Glenn ... if she did not list this as her official email address for city business ... how the hell would people know how to reach her via email? And how would people know that she is using a private email account for city business if it was not officially listed? I'm just wondering what your thoughts on that are.

I honestly don't believe there are any legal or ethical issues here. That said, I don't think it is that difficult to simply put a "jevans@scrantonpa.gov" e-mail address on the official website and give your secondary (personal) e-mail address to those who do not mind sending something to a less secure private box.
If I were a public official whose every move was monitored for the eventual misstep, I would be quickly joining the gang on the "scrantonpa.gov" list. Is the term "damage control" (or at the very least, "corrective measure") suddenly inoperable in this area?
I disagree Glenn. Here's why - ever get an email with one of these tags attached?
The information contained in this communication is confidential, is intended only for the use of the recipient named above, and may be legally privileged.

You're not supposed to screw with other people's email. Period. I guess the only way to get Janet to understand that is for everyone who emails her to include the above tag.
I admit I would feel uneasy if I knew my e-mails could potentially be scattered all around town. This is the risk to privacy inherent in e-mail. I have no doubt Joe Gatelli would be allowed to read and gather Judy's e-mail at the home computer.
The issue here seems to be the nasty reply spewed from the e-mail address used for official government correspondence. In that case, I agree as to the impropriety. Mrs. Evans should immediately launch an address with the "scrantonpa.gov" tag attached.
::: ...I guess the only way to get Janet to understand that is for everyone who emails her to include the above tag. :::
Even if the above tag is included in the mail, it would already be too late to read it once the email has been opened by some unauthorized person.
I know that if you snail-mail something to any particular council member, it is opened by an 'authorized' person and then copied and distributed to the other members as well. I do not know if there is an 'authorized' person who checks all of council's dotgov email addresses or if they are handled the same way as snail-mail (probably not). It is my strong belief that Janet used her own personal email address simply so she could both send/receive personal and intimate correspondence with persons of her ilk - also so she could fly under the radar and could NOT be monitored by any entity other than big dave.
The next council meeting can't come soon enough for me. I think we should all take the day off and have a "Janet screwed the pooch" party.
She has to use her chance to speak and address this before someone does it from the podium. Once the topic hits the podium it becomes an avalanche - I'm sure Judy will be real quick with the gavel considering all of the s**t she puts up with from the LOD. Buckle up Jan, 9/11 is going to be a fun day.
