Think of the money - at .25 cents a copy, 2000 customers grosses $500.00.
Not much advertising up for grabs in the Wilkes-Barre newspaper's Scranton edition unless they give it away. Problem is no matter how cheap you make the advertising they still have no readers to speak of.
So 500 bucks a day - $3500 a week, plus ad income to support a Scranton office? After expenses it's about $400 profit if the margin is 20 percent. Anyone think the Times-Leader is coming to Scranton for $400 a week?
Not happening ... but that's just my opinion ... hell anyone who feels the need to read it can pick it up at the newstand ... or the store when you stop in for your coffee on the way to work ... damn it's already here and has been for a long long time ... I know if I wanted I could buy it anytime!

Oh and Art for all of the fake sign ups ... how many subscriptions do you think that they really got? 20 maybe

Let's put it this way: all telethons and fundraisers who solicit donations expect at least a 50% attrition rate - meaning that half the people who say they will doante or buy something never actually do. Right from the start you cut the number in half, then you start subtracting fake names. 20 sounds about right.

170* "signatures" as of 12:15 AM. Joe, you and Edith better start getting on it if you hope to have your 2000 by the end of the day. Phone book is in the top left hand desk drawer. Don't forget to come up with extra names to counter the "Heywood Jablowme" and "Charles U. Farley" names that are no doubt populating your extensive list of signatories.
They are not quite as influential as they would have everyone believe ... if they had any sort of pull with the people of Scranton ... he would have 2000 signatures ... hell he's more than halfway there with the membership of DD .... (proof that they are multiple posters I would say) ... Oh Well Joey ... I guess it's not going to happen for all of you ... your going to have to walk to the store and pick it up each day ...

175 signatures by 10:00 AM, 8/7/07. Not even 10% toward your goal. How pathetic you all must feel. Insignificant, even. You all made it sound like such a sure thing, being the influential movement you pretend to be and whatnot.
This shows their lack of any major influence in terms of voting. There are probably 35 fake names on there if not more. You know they ALLLLLLLLL signed it and told anyone they could get thir hands on to sign it. So now we have an estimated number of how many people are in that little cult.
PS. those who signed up include people outside the city. So that actually represents their voting block for county, City is even smaller. I love how no matter what JOe does, he remains soooooooo insignificant. No matter how tough he talks or how many suits he brings, he is still a nobody with nothing but a complex. That alone is satisfying to me. When he gets hauled off in cuffs for doing something dumb then that will be icing on the cake.
By the way, whats up with is post about going to the closet to wear a diffent suit.(anaogy to being a bad ass who beats up people) did any of you catch that. Very threating undertones in that. Maybe he realizes he can do nothing and will fall into the trap the smart people are setting for him.
I don't know about eveyone else Art ... But I believe you! I know I signed it one time ...and everyone (well just about everyone) here singed it once ... some more ... I would venture that you and Paul signed often and represent most of those signatures ... but that's just my opinion!

This is such a trainwreck...think Fay 'Foam @ the Mouth' Franus on a bad hat day.
Can you picture this? Ozzie is handing the petition over the to TL publisher, who then asks him "who is this Al Kaholic who signed the petition 12 times?".

Damn, that's some impressive grass roots action at work.
Let me see...it took them a week to get 25 more signatures, which works out to about 3.5 signatures per day, so at that rate they may be up to about the 5000 or so needed by sometime in mid to late 2011. Oh, forgot, some of those signatures maybe somewhat questionable...

That's like the grass root effort that they put into elections ... and if you take away the false signatures ... well then the grass root effort is even less successful ...
That's why Doherty did not fall in the fall of 2005 and that's why Jan did not win her bid to higher office ... they are not what they pretend to be ... at least we are what we are and we don't claim to be anything more ...

Don't forget, their Republican write-in candidate for Controller only got 53 votes, less than the Democratic, and allegedly corrupt, candidate got on the Republican side.
The only way Pilchesky influences elections is when he disenfranchises the rest of the voters. And even then, the result was the same as it would have been otherwise.
Ah yes, but this was BEFORE Hubbard was charged with disrupting a council meeting. Had that happened BEFORE the election I think he could have topped out near two dozen votes. That's impressive!
Maybe that's why he did it. Maybe he just snapped out of despair. He probably also figured "What the hell, I only got a few dozen votes. Who would even notice if I did this? ....whoops."
Put this one in the rapidly growing Pilchesky loss column. The good news is Sam shouldn't much trouble delivering those 200 papers. His Times route is probably about the same size. Oh wait, that's 200 papers spread out over all of NEPA. Never mind.
