I tried to send the budget Janet Evans wrote, but it wouldn't send because it said the "message was to long, shorten it." I sent it to Lus's e-mail address instead. Enjoy knowing your taxes did not need to be raised 25%.

Sheri, I am not trying to be a jerk or anything here but if you look at her budget from an economist perspective and really delve into it, it is faluty and very poorly constructed. Bottom-line: her budgetr would fail. She put it together as a reponse to Doherty to make her look like she was trying to save the residents. She is the head of the finance chair granted. She is not a CPA nor does she have a MPA. Her hotel tax can not be enforced. There are many problems with it. I could come up with a budget in a few weeks and say here, i just saved the city millions and i am a hero. Her budget called for a buch of admin cuts. The contracts those admins sign have verbage that somewhat protects them from losing their jobs in that way. They would all sue. More lawsuits and BS.

He budget was smoke and mirrors, we all knew and we all know it. She is good to her base and she is getting bigger and brighter in their eyes. Her detractors are getting more and more sick of her stunts and also her inability to get anyone else on council to see it her way. She is a lousy politician.

Don't give up - break it into several smaller documents and e-mail it in pieces. Adapt, overcome. You can do it, you're on city time.

Welcome back! I was worried you were leaving - you know, after you said you would leave forever - again.

Hey Art, lets see if I can post at the same time Nancy Krake speaks LIVE at the meeting, OK? Just make sure Paul is sitting down. His feelings will be hurt, I'm sure. Deal?

Tim,
Anyone could be wrtten out of budget. They can't sue for anything unless they're wriiten out and then funded for the same position at a later time with a different person inthe spot. There's no smoke and mirrors. It cut all the Doherty fat and balanced the budget with NO tax increase.

jeeeeze that sound fabulous. almost to good to be true. You are nieve. when your the mayor it isn't considered fat, it is insulation. Janet is in the minority. She could have had alan greenspan ghostwrite the budget. It wouldnt have been able to accomplish what she wanted. She is not going to get her way no matter how many of her frineds coem to the meetings and complain. I just love how u think Doherty is where the buck stops and you all blame him for everything.

It's his budget Tim. He raised your taxes. He's responsible. The 3 rubberstamps never gave the other proposal a look. That's why they're called rubberstamps. Are you happy about that? You guys can brush off anything. Read the budget and compare it to his. Insulation? Theft is more like it and YOU are one of the victims.

You're kidding, right? What would that prove, that you were able to give someone your username and password?

For the record, when you talk I can see Janet's lips move.

Oh, how dumb of me again Art! How could I possibly fool you! I know, if and when Krake gets to the stand, it's probably just a hologram of her. I sit here behind the curtain and direct everything from the land of Oz. You people are unbelievable.

My first reaction is:

Holy crap that's a lot of scrolling, give it it's own thread.

My second reaction is, that's what a high school kid would produce as a budget if given the chance.

That revenue attached to "NOTE: Here's an extra 3 million dollars and change" is a bit debatable.

Not claiming to be a budget expert, but why this ? (a) Does not include OECD Payroll.

How old is this alleged budget? It lists Jay Saunders as clerk, but he's been gone for what, a couple of years?

These are just items at a glance - I have not had time to spend more than 3 minutes on the many pages. I'm sure more is to come from the people who give it a good read.

It is now in a thread all of it's own ... thank you for your suggestion ... it was greatly appreciated.

I'll admit it - I'm impressed - it may not be THE budget, but it's a budget nonetheless.

It's THE Evans budget. Art, I think her budget was manipulated from the city's budget. Any errors on names were probably there to begin with. It's worthless unless you line by line compare it to Doherty's. That's where the differences will jump out. I haven't seen it in months but I remember her budget cut about 4 million in expenses and not sure about the raised revenues that are non-existent in his.

So she didn't really prepare a budget, then, did she? She just swapped out Doherty's numbers for her own. Awe inspiring.

Given a few hours over the course of a day, I probably could have done roughly the same thing as Evans did. Probably would have gotten roughly the same results, too...

She makes no mention of how she plans to accomplish any of her budget savings, she just changes budgeted numbers to a smaller amount. Anyone could have done that. What makes it a functional budget is the accompanying explanation of how to make the proposed budget work.

Paul's right (again), she copy and pasted new and unexplained numbers into an existing budget. The 4 million dollars in savings looks like it comes from the last item noted, 3 million of which is from the sale of the golf course.

Care to point other the rest of the highlights Sherri?
