Not even the balls or spine to print the name of the Web site. It was sooooo strongly suggestive that not even an investigation was conducted by the local and state authorities into her whacky, untrueclaims. No charges filed. Or, did Andy have his fill of pushing DD around after writing the 50K check? Big commotion over nothing more or less than Judy Gatelli being told it's showtime and the timing is good. They didn't check her resume`, she can't act. Well, what has happened since? Gatelli fulfilled a legacy that was destined to define her as the worst council president and council person ever elected. So bad was she, that she voluntarily stepped down from the presidency in public disgrace. She became the laughing stock of 61 broadcasting, along with sidekick Fanucci.
"strongly suggestive of potential violence against her'?
Is that like "it's probably possibly potential if maybe perhaps it maybe wouldhave or could have been assumed or presumed that the theory was somehow capable of something at sometime by someone." Wow, superselective with their verbs, adverbs and adjectives, aren't they? What is there someone sue happy around here, or what?
The Kirkwood case should be instructive of what is possible because it was not some random act. Shooter Charles Lee Thornton killed a police officer outside Kirkwoods City Hall and then entered the council meeting room, killing another police officer, two council members and the public works director, and wounding the mayor and a newspaper reporter. Police then stormed the room and killed Thornton.
I see, Charles Lee Thornton just woke up one day, and for no reason, went to the courthouse to destroy his own life and that of his family, and many other families. For no reason at all. Granted, what Thornton did was the extreme, unacceptable and tragic, but a politicians disrespect and arrogancecan as deadly to himself as those around him. What did that mayor do to provoke that violence? How did he push Thornton over the edge? It seemed like a team event according to the articles released on it. Would Scranton be much better off without Chris Doherty? Without question, but putting a bullet in his head isn't the way to do it. Puttinga political bullet into his career of corruption and theft is the way to do it and we well beyond the half way point.
Ten days earlier, a federal court had ruled against Thornton in a suit he had brought against the council, alleging that it had violated his free speech rights.
I'm going to get a copy of that suit, it should be interesting.
Scranton council meetings are far better known for the emotionally charged vitriol that too often characterizes televised public commentary sessions, rather than for policy achievements.
Sorry, Mr. Editorialists, but council meetings are better known for gross misrepresentations and betrayals of the best interests of the people in favor of the best interests of political greedy, swine like Chris Doherty. What policy does the editorialist speak of? Pray tell. When did reckless spending, rampant corruption of existing policies and bureaucratic theft become policy achievements?
The question of how to control the meetings sometimes has been the principal issue facing council, in a government that has substantial financial issues to consider.
You control by example. Period. You control by conducting yourself in an ethically and morally manner giving dignity to your council seat by honoring the taxpayers who pay you and expect you to do the right thing. You control by forcing an administration to open it books and demand accountability, and not by giving a new definition to political whore.
The Kirkwood tragedy should resonate in Scranton as a call to civility at City Council meetings. Mean-spirited discourse that does nothing to move the city forward is tragic enough.
What a mouthful coming from the most corrupt newspaper in the area, well, actually, just about the only paper in the area. I suppose that we must now all realize that mean-spirited discourse won't move the city forward, only creating the highest debt in the state will do that. I agree with one thing, the mean-sprited element should be replaced with a refined delivery of eloquent dialogue fit for the most overburndened taxpayers.
This mayor is in more trouble than he realizes, but I love that he's running for office again. Just love it. Sloppy, stupid, arrogant and (a little feminine) Chris Doherty will take them all down, he'll make sure of it. No, I'll make sure of it. "2008", the wheels come off and the political machine around here willcrash and burn on Main St. for all to see.No need to call 911, there will be no survivors, politically speaking, of course.I may not survive it myself, but it's a small price to pay to take them down.2008gate. The year Scranton burned.
