Been thinking about this one for a while. I'm sure it's been touched on before.
Most of the assclowns don't vote. The message board is easy. You never have to put down the Genny or miss a minute of TV. Voting is hard. You have to leave the house, read and push buttons.
Someone also needs to explain to concept to those asshats that "signs don't vote." I've seen some posts claiming to be able to extract potential results based on signage in the area.
Remember the "VOTE NO" signs for the referendum? They were everywhere and the "no" vote was crushed.
Art...and let's not forget that if you choose to write in a candidate you also have to be able to spell. That could cause a real problem for Granma. Just imagine the ways she could spell 'Dan Hubbard'...
Daan Huberd (the Dutch version) Dawn Huberst D Huubbard L Ron Hubbard Mother Hubbard

Is Dan's campaign slogan "A cupboard full of bones for every dog" Because if he did ... he poor old mother ... she will be quite busy making sure every dog has a bone ... but on the up side ... Aqua/Fay Franus will be the first in line to vote ... because she loves little doggies!

Hubbard's campaign signs will have two sides, just like most others; however his will have two different sides.
One side will show his angelic, clean-shaven mugg and your run of the mill "vote for me" campaign slogan.
The other side will show the kisser that hasn't seen a razor for the better part of a week (because Ma used it on her legs), that baseball cap on top of his head, flannel shirt with half of a collar, and the campaign slogan "Git 'er done!". This way, he'll relate himself to ALL the dip$hits from across the hall.

Hey how did old Danny Boy do on his write in campaign? I don't recall seeing his results!

One of the biggest disservices that DD does for the community is that they pollute real issues with their written trash.
Case in point is Controller Novembrino. Now I am sure she is a nice person, but let's be honest here: has Scranton really had the best financial controls in place over the past, say, 12 years or so? I think it's a valid question to ask. But instead of a rational debate over the performance of the Controller's office, what we will get with the whole Dan Hubbard candidacy is a bunch of 'Novembrino DOObee' nonsense that will eventually degrade into a bunch of fat-person comments. Thank God she isn't Irish, lest Antisemiticmovements join the fray.

I think Mrs Novembrino is a wonderfully nice person. She appears to have done afine jobfor a quite awhile in her office. (which if I remember correctly she actually first took at the request of others, as a gesture of respect, for her husband who had passed away while the sitting controller. Right?)
Is it possible the job has simply grown past her abilities? Sure it is possible. Afterall, the city finances and problems have grown considerably since she first took office. I have to be perfectly honest, since she is such a sweetheart I, for one, have never even thought about what her qualifications areor if she has any at all.I firmly believe that no one ever runs against her for the same reason....... she is such a sweetheart, and everyone likes her. I think any candidate who might have thought about running against her, gave up the idea quick, as it might appear to be an insult to her. Hence her long stay, unchallenged and quite popular.
I think if anyone wants to have a serious discussion on that issue.. it is not only a valid issue but a timely one, as well. So the question is... can people discuss this issue honestly, intelligently, and without personal attacks?? I believe the answer is yes over here.........and probably not, over next door.
"I think Mrs Novembrino is a wonderfully nice person. She appears to have done afine jobfor a quite awhile in her office. (which if I remember correctly she actually first took at the request of others, as a gesture of respect, for her husband who had passed away while the sitting controller. Right?)"
You are right IHave ... a you couldn't meet a nicer lady ... I think that over the years she has done a fine job ... but as we all do ... we get older and we slow down a bit (I am not implying that she can no longer get around) ... and well I'm thinking that she's not as young as she once was ... is it time for some new blood ... it just may be because as with everything when we are doing it for years and years ... and well how long has it been for Roseanne ... she must be in office for 18+ years now ... maybe longer ... It very well could be time for a change ... some new blood that will be a financial watchdog as Roseanne was when she first took that office ... as her husband was when he had that office.
I think that the next election is when we are going to have to make these changes because the primary is over and done with and since Roseanne ran unopposed that assures her to be the winner. Se we (god willing) have four more years of Roseanne ... but I do believe that she is a reasonable person and if the citizens let her know (in a dignified manner) that they wanted her to take a closer look at things ... well then I do believe that she would ... she should be doing that now ...
Now do we really think that waging a write in campaign for Dan Hubbard is the answer to this city's financial state? I do not believe for one minute that he would be capable of doing this particular job! I don't know what the answer is ... could Roseanne be doing a better job ... Yes ... could the Mayor do a better job ... again I have to say .. Yes ... should we be looking to raise revenu in the city .... yes ... there are so many things that we should be doing and we don't ... I don't know what the answer is ... but Roseanne Novembrino is not the root of evil ... and Dan Hubbard is not the answer to our problems in this city .... so what is the answer?
I do believe that you are right about why nobody runs against her IHave ... but it is they who think she will feel that way I'm sure ... She has been around politics for a long long time ... she knows the game ... and how it is played ... I do not think for one moment that she would feel insulted ... that's just the way some people think ... she may even welcome it and just think had she had a challenger or two throughout her career then she may have been kept on her toes over the years rather thanbecoming complacent... what do you think?

I honestly don't know much about Ms Novembrino, other than the fact that she took over for her husband. As for her performance to date, I can't say that it has been bad, but I can't say that it's been particularly stellar either. Maybe there have been accomplishments in her office that I'm not aware of; maybe the city would be in far worse shape had she not been in office; regardless I think it's always a good idea to question, as long as the questions are asked in a respectful manner. I do know that she keeps a relatively low profile.
Regarding Dan Hubbard, I have the following questions:
Is he a CPA?
Does he have any other professional registrations or designations (NASD registrations, Insurance Licensing, ChFC, CLU, designations, etc.)?
Does he have a degree in Accounting or Finance?
Does he have corporate Accounting or Risk Management experience?
Has he ever conducted a financial audit before?
Has he ever done any process re-engineering work before?
Has he ever designed and/or implemented financial controls before?
Does he have any experience in banking or investments?
What people management experience does he have?
What's the largest budget he has ever managed?
So Mr Hubbard, if you are reading this, feel free to respond. I'm not busting your chops here, but if I'm going to question the performance of Ms Novembrino, then it's only logical that I should question the experience of someone who wants to replace her.

::: I should question the experience of someone who wants to replace her. ::: He stayed at a Holiday Inn Express ... Between that fact and the fact that Ray Lyman gave him "da tums up", well, he's MORE than qualified.
Hell, at least we know Hubbard can swim, don't we??
Girl you are bad .... but I am assuming that yes ... he can swim.
And Ag ... I didn't mean to slam Mrs. Novembrino ... she is a wonderful woman ... I think the world of her ... and for the most part I think that she has done a great job ... she used to be very vocal questioning where the money was being spent ... hell wasn't she the one who Caught Mr. Loughney (former DPW Director) when he purchased the Gaurdrails at a rediculously high price ... and then they began to disappear ... it was Roseanne who caught on to him giving away the guardrails that the city never needed. Mr. Loughney was fired for this.
She has been very quiet ... I should not have said she was complacent ... what I should have thought about and then said ... was this ... if there were something not quite right going on ... she would be the first one to speak out about it ... so they must be on the up and up!
