The ironic part is that the ole' bully was probably correct in his assessment that Cordaro did not disclose all of his financial matters appropriately (and this is coming from me, someone who was going to vote for Cordaro anyway).
But now that this strange event has occurred, I'm wondering that other epic events will happen, such as...
...will a monkey somewhere in the world manage to type 'War And Peace'? ...will OJ find the real killer? ...will it start raining frogs? ...will Rush Limbaugh admit on the air to being a "fat, bloated, draft-dodging, pill-popping douche-bag?" ...will Anti break into a verse of "Everyday People" by Sly and the Family Stone during the next council meeting? ...will Ray Lyman pen a critique of the John Keats poem "The Eve of St. Agnes"? ...will Fay Franus finally admit that she makes up all those stories about senior citizens loosing their homes because of the new high school/Doherty's budget/progress in general? ...will Janet Evans cop to using her position as a school director to get a full time teaching position in the Scranton School District?
Yes, these are strange times folks. ...

That gay bastard just denied every single Republican the opportunity to vote on the issues based on the issues as they themselves see them. One person just managed to sabatoge the democratic process. For the people my white Irish ass!
F U C K Y O U, J O E P I L C H E S K Y!!!! I hope he coasts in on a write in campaign and wins by a margin the likes of which have never been seen in county politics and this whole thing backfires in your face.
To quote Harvey Keitel from Pulp Fiction, "Let's not start sucking each others' d***s just yet."
Beating Cordaro is not his white whale - it's what he settled for. Cordaro - a bully and a braggard made it easy by lying about the obvious. If he wins on a write in Pilchesky's win is hollow.
It's a win, but it's a pres-season bush league win, it's a win over a guy on the short bus, it's a win over a...you get the idea.
Stay tuned. It just got bad for Cordaro, but he's down, not out.
Personally I wish it was someone else that brought him down. Cordaro's a load, but I hate to see Flamin' Joe get any credit.
I heard this morning that the Republican ballot in the May Primary will only have Munchak listed, which basically means that Cordaro is a layup for a write-in. What does that leave us? By my estimation, this is an example of serial-plaintiff Pilchesky shooting fish in a barrel. Yes, he picked an easy target and got a score for the sake of getting a score, but it probably will not change the outcome (as noted by Art).
In the end, this may be a good thing for the campaign to prove that Pilchesky is a bully and a nut, has his little barrel fishing contest victory will certainly embolden him to do even more. Like most meglomaniacs Pilchesky will not be satisifed...he will want more, and more, and more. And as he reaches for more and more and more, he will get even sloppier. You think this guy has made some mistakes in the past? You have not seen anything yet.
As for Cordaro, this is probably the only guy in Lackawanna County with a bigger ego than serial-plaintiff Joe Pilchesky, so it's not surprising that the #2 guy got a victory over the #1 guy. I suspect that most people would feel humiliated over this outcome (Bob...you lost a guy who was previously 0 for 28 in court for God's sake!), but I doubt that will be the case for Mr Cordaro. No, if there was any streak of humility resulting from all of this I suspect that it lasted oh, about 30 seconds inside of head of Cordaro. Cordaro has already moved on, and if serial-plaintiff Pilchesky thought that he had a nemesis in Doherty, then he's in for a rude awakening once Cordaro gets re-elected. Cordaro has the perfect combination of ego, bravado and most importantly the means to even the score with Pilchesky. Given Pilchesky's natural (and newly ecouraged) propensity to allow his reach to exceed his grasp, I think he has picked the wrong guy to crusade against.

From a voter standpoint, this was probably the worst thing that could have happened, especially with electronic voting still being in its infancy.
1. It will likely have no effect as to who appears on the ballot for the Republicans in November. This is addressed in another thread; it's a meaningless "victory" for the old man, but beggars can't be choosers.
2. It will likely make voting for Cordaro more difficult and confusing for those who still choose to go that route. The Board of Elections will now have to decide up front what variations of the name "Robert C. Cordaro" will be acceptable, and this information will need to be disseminated, all in two weeks.
3. Voters are already leery about the new machines, because of a natural fear of the unnown, failure to familiarize themselves with the touch screens, some media playing to those fears and offering only worst case scenarios instead of focusing on how much more efficient reporting is, etc. Because the voter will now have to actually type in the name rather than write it in or affix a silly little sticker, INSTEAD OF SIMPLY TOUCHING HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT SCREEN, this will mean the robots will have begun their takeover. Everybody panic!
4. Instead of allowing the people to take part in the democratic process and elect their own representatives, one small man with a gigantic bug up his ass and an ego to match has decided that he knows better than thousands of registered voters and has attempted to influence a county election. One person's OPINION should never supersede the will of the many. This was not "political activism" at work, it was interference. It infringed upon a citizen's right to vote. God forbid the government did that. (Question--does a registered Republican have any recourse to this violation?)
5. It was simply a case of the old man's ego making HIM the centerpiece of this election rather than any of the issues. Was this primary season about a tax increase? No. Was it about reckless spending? No. Was it about selling assets or putting the county in a position to sell assets? No. Joe made it about something trivial, in the grand scheme of things. He made it about an agenda that benefits him, rather than allowing the residents to decide on the issues that affect them for the greater good. The state Supreme Court was wrong to allow this action to continue, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
While Joe wins the case, he never really proved anything that he had been claiming. Cordaro lied on his form; it was a stupid move. Had he filled out the petition correctly there would have been no reprocution - everyone knew he was on that bank board - it was an issue when the airport borrowed money from the bank. For some reason Cordaro either overlooked it or thought it didn't matter. That makes him an idiot. It doesn't make Joe a genius though.
I'm sure if you poured over every nominating petition out there you'd find something. Turn about is fair play. Who wants to step up and investigate Janet Evans' petition? Now wouldn't that be a funny error to uncover?
Well you can look at this Cadaro situation as a victory for Joe ... but at the same time it opens up for all voters (dem or rep.) to vote for Cadaro should they choose ... it is just a thought ... he's not exactly out of this thing ...
