Again I was reading the letters to the editor this morning and well I thought that this guy made perfect sense!
Keep show on hiatus
Editor: Having council meetings televised is a privilege, not a requirement of the government. To say these meetings must be televised for people who cannot make it there in person is ludicrous.
City Hall and the meetings held within it are accessible to all. If the room is limited to a certain capacity, I suggest getting there early, like a 12-year-old waiting for concert tickets, to ensure entrance.
These televised meetings are a privilege given to taxpayers. They are abused by those hoping to look savvy to gain their 15 minutes of fame or idiocy.
The Legion of Hypocrisy is doing a wonderful job of wasting time and tax dollars in preventing these meeting from operating efficiently. The cameras should be removed indefinitely until council feels the grandstanding is at a minimum. All speakers should be required to sign in as a contract agreeing to keep the three-minute speaking rule and a promise of efficiency in their statements regarding important issues.

I thought that Bob made perfect sense ... the televised meetings are a privelige and not a requirement ... and the speakers do nothing but grandstand and try and make a name for themselves ...
I wonder if Les and the rest of the Doomers ever wonder if people approach them to ask questions for them simply to make fools out of them ... not because they truly think that these people will ask the questions but to ensure that their favorite sitcom has some real comedic moments.
I know that it is one of my favorite ways to pass the time on a Thursday evening as I am not much of a fan of Television, this is the best reality TV out there. I am thinking that it would be just as easy to send a question to a council member via mail or e-mail and it would achieve the goal of having a question asked. But there are some who know that if we ask Les or another Doomer to ask for us then they will show up for the meeting asking the question along with putting on a good show ... and what is more entertaining ...having a council member read a letter ... or having Les Spindler up there with all of his strange quirks asking that same question.
I must agree that the cameras should be left out ... that will be the only way to restore order to these meetings and then maybe the council can get back to city issues, and maybe they won't have to limit the number of people who are allowed to attend ... and hey here is a novel idea ... then more citizens may want to participate ... because when you really think about it ... who wants to go to a meeting with the Doomers ... they heckle other speakers if they don't agree with them ... they try to intimidate new speakers ... it is not a productive situation at all.
So I must say that I agree with Bob ... Keep the Cameras out for now until order is restored because it is not our right to have televised meetings ... if it were all public meetings of municipalities would be televised. I have noticed that the Throop meetings were taken off after the trouble there ... so why should Scrantonians have to be made fools of ... The Doomers are trying to Bully city government ... and didn't like it when city government fought back!
