Well I have not been doing much posting lately ... but I have still been reading ... and well I guess it takes a big ole sledge hammer to come right down in the middle of my head before I understand what those people across the hall are all about.
To me it seems as though the sole purpose of that board is to sniff out the next lawsuit ... now they are going to sue Mandalay because they say that they discriminate against people 60 or older. Is this true ... I don't know ... one would think that if it were true then there would be headlines telling of the discrimination. You would think that these 6 people who have been the victims of Age Discrimination would be shouting from the rooftops ...
Here we have people who are complaining about the tax increases ... but what are they doing ... are they looking for ways to make cuts that will lead to taxes that are more affordable ... no they are filing lawsuit after lawsuit ... tying up the court system ... not only are they increasing our city expenditures but also our county expenditures with the costs of these lawsuits ... and well hell how about the trials and lawsuits that are legitimate ... they are taking longer to go through the system because the yahoos are tying everything up ...
I think that I am very disalussioned these days ... I'm not totally happy with the city government and the way it is run ... and I would like to be able to go down to a council meeting and express the way I am feeling ... but hell I have to work and I won't make it in the building ... this much I know ... I can't waste my day going down there and sitting with the LO(a)D crazies ... I like myself more than to subject myself to that. For this I have the gang across the hall to thank ... well them and the LO(a)D.
I just wish that they would stop with the lawsuits already because they are not helping the tax situation ... I really love Scranton ... but instead of them being the ones to move out it's going to be people like us that have to move ... they are driving the costs with these lawsuits ... and they are liking it ... I really need to know how much money has been wasted on the lawsuits to date ... I just don't know how they can bitch about the rising taxes when they are contributing to them ...
I am so sorry for my rant ... I don't know if I made any sense ... but I got somthing off my mind ... so thank you all!

On a lighter note, take one guess who'll win; the huge gambling empire with hundreds of high priced lawyers at their disposal, or Joe.
I'd put my quarter in the Mandalay slot and pull the lever for the easy win. Joe will never get out of the gate. Joe's gonna lose this one faster than Barbaro's leg snapped on the front stretch. He'll lose it faster than I can make a $20 dollar bill disappear at the Mohegan Sun. He'll lose faster than Ray Lyman can say...well you get the idea - he's gonna lose.
Joe doesn't know the meaning of the word "lose." Joe doesn't know the meaning of a whole lot of words, but "lose" is at the top of that list. I hear that every morning he touches a picture of John Belushi and reverently whispers "It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!" Drives Janet up the damn wall, but he does it anyway.
Well ... lawsuits are contagious ... that's right ... Joe isn't the only one threatening lawsuits anymore ... take a look!

RE: Issues the City would like us to forget about Nelson, I believe you still have the right to speak whether or not you signed in. If they stop you or move on without your being able to speak, you have recourse. PM me if it happens and I'll be glad to help finance a court case against the city. You'll win. Not even our local judges will **** with free speech issues. A council rule cannot supercede the constitution or the HRC. __________________ I never give them hell. Now if they were going to stop Nelson from speaking simply because he was not signed in wouldn't they have done it already! These people are counting on being able to file lawsuits ... they are counting on driving up the taxes ... and they do it all in the name of "Free Speech" ... but what gets me is that they are blatently denying the same right "Free Speech" to countless people everyday ... so now how does one justify a lawsuit in the name of "Free Speech" when they deny and stomp all over the rights of so many people on a daily basis ... it's just a simple question for them ... God I wish that they would register and answer that question.
Oh well ....

Supercede the Constitution? I think 'bo pee' has lost more than just her sheep. I do wish she could show me where in the United States Constitution it says that anyone has the right to speak at a local city council meeting. Hell, if she believes that, then just for fun I'd like to see her and Nelson march down to Washington DC and DEMAND to speak in front of the United States Senate...after all, if the have a RIGHT to speak at Scranton City Council meetings, then that same RIGHT must exist at a federal level as well.
Once again we have a clueless tool that confuses the RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH with the DESIRE FOR A TELEVISION AUDIENCE.

These two ... Peep and Nelson ... should maybe concentrate on how to get the administration to sit down with them to negotiate that contract they are so much in need of ... they are so busy trying to help Joe find the corruption that they have forgotten about the people that they represent ... I would say that if there is a lawsuit to be filed it would be on the Union Leaders who seem to want to fight with the Administration rather than sit down with them ... I just have one thing to add ... why in the world have they not brought in a state mediator to help resolve the issue of NO CONTRACT? I think that going what is it ... five years without a contract certainly merits bringing in a mediator who can sit down and help them come to a conclusion that is good for all involved.
Here is the link ... by all means contact them ... get your contract underway ... and stop the maddness that is known as City Council Meetings ... Get a contract for God's Sake! L&I: Labor/Management Services
Mediation Services Who We Are
In 1937, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania enacted a law giving a broad mandate to the Department of Labor & Industry to provide mediation services to the private sector. As the demand for mediation activity increased, the Department established a separate Bureau of Mediation. In 1970, the Public Employee Relations Act (Act 195)* gave public sector employees the right to bargain collectively and to strike.
The Bureau of Mediation was then assigned the responsibility of providing mediation services to public sector parties. An amendment to the school code in 1992, known as Act 88*, provided additional strict time lines utilizing mediators within the public school setting.
Additionally, mediation assistance has been provided for Act 111* police and fire fighter contract disputes when requested. The work of the Bureau of Mediationhas been expanding in both the private and public sectors and today is the keystone of the Commonwealth's efforts to cultivate cooperative relationships between labor and management in plants, schools, governmental agencies, and other places of work.

What We Do
The Bureau of Mediation is charged with furthering economic development in the Commonwealth by helping to foster a cooperative labor-management climate. This mission is accomplished by providing impartial professional mediators to assist with labor negotiations and to provide proactive training and services to the parties.
In addition to these services, the Bureau of Mediation maintains a list of qualified impartial arbitrators and submits panels of arbitrators when requested by the parties to any collective bargaining dispute.
