Apparently, Piccolino declined the offer to join Joe and become a full fledged dirtbag. That alone probably gained the pizza man several hundred votes.
Other humorous quotes from that thread so far:
Sacred Heart Of Elvis:Maybe your reservations about Mr. Piccolino are true. You do seem to be a good judge of character. (Yeah, the same way that he'sdeemed Janet Evans, who sucks,to be a good councilwoman, valid mayoral candidate, answer to the NYY middle relief problems, and savior of the whales.)
Daily Double: I'm sure Gio is a one issue person...(That's one more than Janet, who sucks, by my count.)
On A Pension:Is that what he may do when there's a problem that needs to be handled, decide it's not the right time to take action?(Like when Janet Evans, who sucks, "suddenly develops" an e-mail problem when citizens appeal to her for help?) It's well known that Joe Pilchesky does all of his own leg work and fight these wars up front... (What's also well known is the old man's success rate. It speaks for itself, we hear.)
When Pigs Fly:He never once said what he could do for the people if elected and he had the opportunity.(Janet Evans, who sucks, has never once SHOWN what she'll do "for the people" and she has been elected. Twice, somehow.) He'll be a terrible coucilman, that's blaringly obvious.(Janet IS a terrible councilwoman, that's blaringly obvious.)
Pilchesky sure does enforce the orthodoxy, does he not?
...first we have Bolus daring to speak out against the wackos ...now we have our favorite bi-lingual* council candidate refusing to cow-toe at the feet-o-Joe
But wait, if Joe is really a modern day Thomas Paine, you would think that people would be rushing to be by his side, not shunning him like an illegal alien with a bad cough. Thomas Paine? More like Paine in the ass.
(*) for the benefit of Granma, this means that he speaks two languages...not that he like both men and women. Just wanted to help you out there...you can thank me later.

I love how anyone who agrees with the administration on ANYTHING is labeled a "Dobee" or a "kool aid drinker" or a "knee padder." But Joe has no tolerance for anyone not bowing down at the altar of DD and Janet Evans.
When will this idiot leave this city? I'm no Doherty supporter, but Pilchesky is single-handedly doing more to hurt this city than any politican or "node of the IBM."
-Joe's father in-law can't get a zoning variance to build a handicap ramp and he goes nuts and launches the dd.com website - not for the people, but to avenge his "decorated war veteran" relative.
Then Joe, (two years later) has morphed into this:
So, where does his heart and spine stand when given the opportunity to help people who are suffering under this administration? Not with the people. He passed on this opportunity to make a difference. He was pretty wishy washy the way he handled it, too. Very unsure of himself and immature. I didn't like what I saw, especially when I looked into his eyes. There's no hunger in there to be a leader. Just my experience with him on an issue of great public importance, that wasn't important to him.
So lets answer those questions; where does Mr. Piccolino stand, what was in his eyes when Joe walked in for the second time, what does he think is important?
Here's where he stands you f***ing moron; he is standing up for what he believes in. He's standing up for his family owned business. He's standing on his own - not taking cheap shot shortcuts and allying himself with a deranged sociopath like you.
What you saw in his eyes was disbelief and probably apprehension. I'm certain he was thinking, "who the hell is this ass***e and what does he want from me?"
Piccolino doesn't want to help the city because he won't join Joe. I say Joe doesn't want to help the city because he only wants to work with the people who kiss his ass and fear him.
FU pal. Good for Mr. Piccolino. Oh yeah, and everyone else over there who weighed in on the subject and bashed the poor guy - I hope you choke on your next slice of pizza.
I like Chris Doherty. The first time I met the man was years ago, while our kids were both playing in the same girls basketball league. I literally sat down next to him, said "Hey aren't you on city council?", and we struck up a conversation. I've probably talked to him a few times since then, but I've never contributed money to his campaigns and I dobut I ever will. As a person he seems like a very decent guy...family man, does care about the city, works hard, and is exceptionally bright. That's the 'pro' part.
On the 'con' side, he had made some of the worst personnel picks I've ever seen in the history of the city. I'm not going to trash people by name here, but it seems like some of his hiring decisions were based more on looks and connection than competency. Mind you, I'm always okay with people learning on the job to an extent...I train people for a living for God's sake...but when you put someone in a leadership position where they have absolutely no experience in that area, you are asking for trouble. My other pet peeve about the Mayor's performance has to do with financial management of the city. Without out getting into a rant, this is a distressed city, so we do need to really watch every nickel and dime with a sense of urgency. That sense of financial urgency just doesn't exist in Mayor Doherty's administration.
The ironic part is that if I just posted the first paragraph above at DD, I would be labeled as a 'Doobee' or whatever the hell nonsense they say. If I posted the second paragraph, I'd get the DD equivalent of a high five. All of which goes to show that Joe Pilchesky & crew are simply a bunch of one-trick ponys.

Agamemnon, your above post pretty much sums up my views of Doherty. I don't know the guy, so I don't hate him as a person. At the same time, I do feel he is somewhat incompetent on the job as far as his hiring and his fiscal irresponsibility. He has done a lot of good to go with the bad, to be sure. The roads have never been in better shape (for the most part), and it is nice to see people other than junkies and homosexual men looking for some action going to Nay Aug.
But I won't go as far as DD.com and anoint Chris Doherty the anti-Christ.

Art I know this is off-topic but that sentence made me think of this again. I may have said this before I can't remember but I know I have thought it often. Given Joey's less than cooperative nature and his tendency to not take no for an answer, how is it that he just took the no over the variance? Why didn't he just go ahead, build the ramp, welcome his dear old Father-in-law with open arms, and let the chips fall where they may? Surely Mr. Lawsuit has to know that this lawsuit would have probably been a winner for him. Ican't think of anyone who wouldsay making your home adaptable for a handicap vet was the wrong thing to do, can you? So ..................is it possible he really never wanted the old man there in the first place? Is it possiblehe doesn't really wear the pants in that house and was afraid to say "no way he ain't coming here" to the "real" man in the house? Hummmmmm.....of course he would have to act the part of being all bent out of shape eh??? You know, to just keep up appearences, and of course, to make sure the little woman never suspected the truth. Hummmmmmmm.....can't say I know anything for sure, you understand, but it sure makes me wonder.
From everything I've read (both here and in other places), Joe Pilchesky is an angry, bitter little man who enjoys bullying others. He is an elderly version of a Jr High bully that instead of using physical threats uses the court system and his highjacked notion of free speech to pump up is own ego. Handicapped ramp? That's just an excuse...and if he didn't have that, he would have manufactured something else in order to start his bogus crusade and make a name for himself. No doubt the man gets a stiffy at the very thought that people are talking about him...be it in the court, in the Scranton Times or even on his board.
All of this does present an interesting thought though: if the man craves attention, are we catering to him by having this board in the first place? In a way I'll bet he is thrilled that, just like his arch nemesis Chris Doherty, there is anti-Joe message board...for this puts him on the same level as Doherty. However, stroking Joe's ego is a small price to pay for the larger good that this board does by exposing to the light of day the shameless crap that is written on DD.
In the boxing match of life, evil wins by default when good refused to enter the ring. As for me, I'd rather go down swinging.

I don't think we're stroking his ego. I don't think there's anything manmade that's capable of stroking something that inflated. We're just having fun pointing out his shortcomings as a man, as a human being, as a political activist, and whatever else he's pretending to be.
So much for Joe protecting a registered poster's identity:

Take a look at this link below and see if anyone recognizes this guy as Piccolino's campaign manager. It looks a lot like the man who did introduce himself to me as his campaign manager. Thank you. Campaign manager? Not sure if he can handle that. Smart ass? He's got that covered. I'm wondering if his balls can cash the checks he writes with his big mouth.

Once again, Joe bends/changes/disregards/denies his own rules to suit his own needs. What is it that he's doing that differs from what he's accusing all these politicians and judges of doing? Seems like the same game is being played by everyone here, Joe. Yourself included. You're no better than any of these people you're after. In many ways, you're worse.
You should know by now that there is only one rule at DD...
Rule #1 - Joe Pilchesky makes all the rules & reserves the right to change, bend, adjust, manipulate, twist, interpret, explain away, ignore, shatter, crap on, or otherwise do as he pleases with them at any time for any reason without any explanation.
No wonder this guy rags on judges constantly...he can't stand it when anyone but him is in control.
