The one and only thing Judy can do to actually set them into a bona fide tizzy.

Their world is crashing around them.  They've put aside 4 hours for "da meedin"  and it's been cancelled.  Whatever shall they do with all the free time?  They'll just have to bitch and rant and rave here because Judy felt the need to cancel tonight's meeting because of impending threats directed toward council members from an "anti-Doherty" website.

What the whack jobs from across the hall don't realize is that Judy cancelled the meeting because of all the trash we talk here about Janet.  We're the bullies and all Judy is trying to do is to save Janet's person from harm and ridicule.  Way to go Judy, but we would never hurt a bottled blonde hair on that shivelled little head of hers.

We're lovers - not fighters....

Pilchesky, Evans, and the rest of the LODers have no one to thank but themselves. Gatelli absolutely did the right thing. While the posts which remain--after an almost certain housecleaning and sanitation of the site--may not have been directly threatening, they were most certainly threatening in nature.

Sure the one avatar was a clip from Scanners. "Boom, head shot" is an implied threat. The avatars of masked terrorists firing automatic weapons and rocket launchers are inherently threatening.  As are the avatars of firing handguns and certain user names. Usernames and avatars to not necessarily have to imply physical harm to be considered threatening, and Joe is fully aware of this.  I think the old man has stepped himself over a line in the sand, knows it, and is going to have a hell of a time erasing the footprint.

Televised council meetings are not, nor have they ever been, protected by anything. There is not a single provision in the document they all so clearly misunderstand in which they are.  Channel 61 was a privelige, and it could have served a very useful purpose.  Instead, it was repeatedly abused and misused by a loud, uneducated, disruptive minority, and the rest of the city has paid the price.  The speakers were not redressing grievances. They were openly disrupting council meetings, making personal insults, and creating a generally hostile environment, simply because there was a camera pointed at them.

I hope the cameras never come back, quite frankly.  It was an experiment that wound up not working, simply because the citizens themselves could not figure out how to make it work.

As part of the tradeoff, however, I would like to see the minutes posted in a more timely manner.  There's really no excuse to be five weeks behind. This is the only record that is legally required to be kept. Council and the clerk's office have an obligation to make them more readily available.

I absolutely agree that cancelling tonight's meeting was the right thing to do.  Every week the LoD crowd tries to 'up the ante' with increasingly vile rhetoric directed soley at provoking certain council members.  It's a verbal arms race that will never have a winner, so it's time to change the rules of the game. 

As for the DD board being sanitized, I'm hopeful that Judy, Amil & company got plenty of screen shots before Pilchesky broke out the internet bleach.  Pilchesky talks about holding elected officials accountable, but his own arrogance has blinded him relative to DD...HE makes the rules...HE chooses not to enforce his own rules...HE edits posters...HE has the power to ban a poster...and as a result HE is personally responsible for the content of that board.

I don't buy that there's a folder for deleted posts. I've deleted a couple posts here, and was never asked about putting them in a folder. Maybe LNV can answer that?

And even so, what's to say that he's not sanitizing those folders? Simply his word??  You've got to be kidding me.  I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.

I disagree with cancelling he meeting - I would never give them the satisfaction. But then again, I'm not a middle aged woman. She did what she felt she needed to do.

What exactly has been violated in the removal of the cameras?

Freedom to speak?  Still have it.
Freedom to peacably assemble?  Well, my definition of "peacably" is apparently different than theirs, but ok.  To-may-to, to-mah-to.  Still have it.
Freedom to petition the government (in this case, City Council) for a redress of grievances?  Still have it.
Freedom to have your childish, abusive, and vitriolic behavior broadcast to a couple thousand homes every Thursday?  Didn't see it mentioned.  What's the beef?

Why doesn't Pilchesky, Lyman, Morgan & crew go to Washington DC and demand to speak on the floor of the US Senate for five minutes?  After all, free speech is free speech.

I agree that they are loving this now, but they will not be loving it later.  Sure now they can go crow to Sue Henry on WILK (BTW, does anyone under the age of 65 listen to her anyway?) tomorrow and they can scream ACLU until they each pop a lung, but when all is said and done the live TV broadcast will still be a thing of the past. 

Why? 

All because they believed their own bull$hit.  Yupp...somewhere along the line Pilchesky & his merry cabal of fanatics started believing that they are so great as to be above many of the basic laws of human existance.  Laws such as...

...you shouldn't take a dump in the same place you would like to eat
...you can't continually slap people down and not expect them to eventually slap you back
...you can't expect something to actually be a 'right' simply because you say it is over and over again (anyone with kids knows that one)
...you can't claim the moral high ground ('fighting corruption') by taking the low road with your tactics

In the end, fanatics always end up doing themselves in...this instance is no different.  So congrat's Joe Pilchesky...one more hallow victory for a bitter old man and a group of followers that so desparately just want to belong.

I've given WILK a few minutes to impress me with their wit and banter. I can't give you names of either of these dj's, but it is a man and a woman. (found out later they are Nancy and Kevin) In these five or six minutes, a few people have called about channel 61. One guy said he is going to miss watching the 'show', another guy said he is glad the cameras will be gone because it may reign the people in who prattle on and on about nothing and make some room for some people who actually have a legitimate complaint about either city government or finances. The other guy commented about the legitimate comments made by Dave Gervasi and made a negative mention of Janet Evans and also agreed about the cameras being removed. At this point, the female dj told him not to mention names and cut him short saying there were many phone calls coming in (and then promptly went to commercial).

Now, let me just say this. The ONLY ones who complained about the cameras and made negative comments were these two dj's. They were the ones to mention Doherty, Gatelli and Fanucci by name in an extremely negative manner and praised Pilcheski's website (which she said she regularly visits) in the same breath.

So who are the instigators here? It is no wonder Franus if foaming at the mouth across the hall about these few minutes on the radio. Everyone should call, everyone should listen, everyone should agree with us, what a LOaD of horse$hit. Then you get Wardell singing praises and making sure to mention the website.

Who gives a $hit about the cameras? The agenda itself is what is matters - not who is interviewing for his next YouTube video.

It's too freaking early to listen to this crap before coffee -- at least I've got a few hours in the day on Thursday as a buffer before the televised meetings. Oh christ - now we've got Hubbard postulating. It sounds like Bad Boy Hubbard, too - I'll betcha he's sporting the scruffy beard.

All righty -- I can't believe that I have had my radio set on WILK for ANY length of time, let alone all morning. But I wanted to listen to the old man. Again, as I stated in my last post, the instigators of this situation are the talking heads of talk radio. I'll give Pilchesky this - he sounds level headed - but what dribbles out from between his lips ain't shinola. I couldn't SEE it, but I could just imagine the missus ' head nodding up and down like a bobblehead in agreement to every word her man uttered.

There were calls from a few 'regulars' - Jackowitz, MaryAnn Wardell got through a few times, Hubbard spoke a few times, as did his mother, Taramini (?) quoted some amendment or other but didn't have a thought of his own to voice, even Ray Lyman made an appearance and talked the same trash about Judy - and then had the brass balls to call again and use the name 'Jack'. It was pitiful. They then cut him off because he accused one of the talking heads of mispronouncing Minora's name. Then some gay Dan called twice and lisped his way through the diatribe of who should resign from council. It was more comical than anything.

Then Bill Courtright graced them with his presence, pointing fingers at Judy and the mayor for having the cameras removed - but then quickly backtracks with a little damage control and some plausible deniability.

Jesus H. - I'm gonna turn into one of those NPR a$$holes who listens to Limbaugh and Imus. It's like quicksand, I tell ya.

Dear Deleware (his misspelling, not mine),

Perry Education Ass’n v. Perry Local Educators Ass’n (1983) was in reference to school mail systems, not city council meetings. At issue: Whether the denial of equal access to an internal mail system within a school district to representative and rival unions violated the First Amendment and the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. If you had actually read it (hell, skimmed it even) you might have known this. Please show relevance instead of trying in vain to impress us with your average copy/paste and linking skillz.

Note that WILK is the station that pollutes the airwaves with that draft-dodging, Viagra-chewing, painkiller addicted, internet wife trolling, chickenhawk douche bag Rush Limbaugh...so consider the source.

Oh, and speaking of the Hubbards, is that a wife and husband, son and mother, or what?  Not trying to rag on them, actually just curious. I kinda get the rage part...unlike Pilchesky I think they actually have  reasons to be pissed off...but I do think they need to do a better job of directing their anger.  The male Hubbard looks like he is going to end up stroking out during one of his rants.  Passion about an issue is a good thing...mindless rage is not.

In the big picture, I think that deserves some cudos to the ch. 61 people. A half hour delay in the broadcast is something I didn't think would happen. Two thumbs up for 61! That's a kick in the ass to the liars.
