Ag you are right ... if there were bullets fired the whole neighborhood would have been up in arms ... and if this happened in September why did this poster wait until April to post about it? 8 months ... I would have been up in arms over this happening and I wouldn't be waiting for the police to alert the media ... I would do it myself ... I would be forming crime watch ... I would be taking steps to make sure that my neighborhood became a safer place for my family ... do these people get that nothing can be done if you don't make a stand ... if this truly happened ... which I doubt ... the neighborhood has to take a stand ... they have to go after the drug dealers that are destroying their neighborhood ... it's work ... and it might take them away from their keyboards ... but hell ... it just might be worth it. Bill and Judy have changed exactly DICK about the way council meetings are being handled. Bill's up for re-election. He's tell you it was raining cash if it'd get your vote, Fay. If they want to make a positive change, they'll remove "citizen participation" since it's a joke. They'll limit speakers to 5 minutes on agenda items only. The cameras will be pulled for real this time. Speakers will get one turn per month, since it's the same few people droning on and on week in and week out about the same things. Nothing is getting done, and it's not entirely the fault of the citing council. __________________

Oh. Sorry. The point remains, though. The meetings are a joke; dramatic and sweeping changes need to be made to the manner in which they are conducted. If the public doesn't like it, they can thank the select few citizens (as well as, to a lesser extent, ALL of the members of Council) for necessitating this change. The "regular speakers" as a whole do not know how to conduct themselves, and should not be allowed to participate until they can behave like responsible adults. Again, I am not holding the sitting (not citing, sigh) council blameless in this, but it's mostly the handful of citizen who are to blame for the farce that Thursday meetings have become. __________________

A while back, I suggested that each neighborhood association have their regular weekly or monthly meetings and elect ONE spokesperson to speak on behalf of the neighborhood. This one person and this one person only can speak for all the needs of their neighborhood. Sure they can change every week, but only one per association. There is absolutely NO need to hear two Hubbards, a Sueta, a Spindler, two or three Newcombs and a Jackowitz all blathering about the same damned thing every freaking week. But getting those people to agree to something like that would be like pulling teeth because every one of them needs to hear their own voice and have their five minutes of weekly fame. __________________ Stupid people piss me off !

They don't need to agree with it. They'd just have to abide by it. Council has the power to make it's own rules concerning citizen participation. The can decree that only one legged asian women with six toes on that foot can speak, and the DD crew can just pound sand about it until election day. Granted, it's a silly example, but Council makes the rules, not the Legion of Doom. __________________

Every now and again we have to roll out the old "Hello Pot .... This is Kettle" thread ... I really thought that this one fit in with this thread quite nicely ... I know that it made me chuckle a bit ...

And the red type is what made me have a "Hello Pot" moment ... don't run with convicted Felons ... hey now ... doesn't Gary DiBileo run with a convicted Felon ... that's right JOANNE PILCHESKY IS A CONVITED FELON ... and she is supporting Gary DiBileo ... and they seem to be privy to information before anyone else is ...
