Cars abandoned in the middle of Moosic St. Cars stuck in the middle of Mulberry St. on the level part. No plows anywhere. The police cars couldn't get out of the parking lot. No DPW plows there, either. But hey, Scartelli came and plowed everybody in at about 11:00 am. Nice work, fellas! Funny, I thought DPW would plow the lots of CITY BUILDINGS.
Total, total distaster. Parker should get fired over this one. (but of course we all know he won't) Now I have an idea what the people in New Orleans felt like after Katrina. The citizens in this town have been left totally abandoned. Thank God snow eventually melts.
Hardcore, you absolutely have no fcking idea what the poeple in New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast felt like after Katrina. Your whiny exaggeration is an insult to the 1800+ who were killed, thousands more who were left homeless and lost all of their possessions, some of whom still to this day have not been back.
They had 125 MPH winds and 15+ foot storm surges. We had a foot or so of snow.
They had entire city blocks washed away. We have to shovel our sidewalks for maybe an hour or two.
Families are still torn apart. You're family is probably in the very next room.
They're still finding bodies, and people are still missing. You're sitting at your computer bitching about a few extra inches of snow and the fact that no ones been out to plow your street.
Is your life in impending danger as a category 5 hurricane bears down on everything you've lived for? Your family, your friends, your home, your place of employment? Are you wondering where your very next meal is going to come from, where you're going to sleep tonight, tomorrow night, next week?
You will never have any idea what they feel like. And even if you're a Katrina survivor, there is no way you can possibly compare these two storms. Jesus Christ, stop making everything so "worst case" would you please?
Paul ... I also find this the most disgusting post ... We think that we know everything here ... we are pretty damn lucky ... do we flood ... you bet we do and as bad as it is ... it could be far more tragic ... you are so right to tell this one to stop whinning ... I don't even know what to say about this post ...
And by the way Hardcore if your reading this ... if you noticed it wasn't just Scranton's DPW that shut down ... it was PenDot ... and most municipalities that surround us ... because ... and maybe I'm wrong ... but wasn't that snow falling at approx. 3 inches an hour at one point ... well how the hell is the DPW expected to keep up with a snowfall like that ... are they superhuman ... do you think that it might have been wiser to keep off the road so that these men from PennDot and the DPW departments could do their job? That might have been a wiser choice. Don't ya think? Just a thought!

Oh for the love of Mike -- Mulberry street was plowed every few hours - no one was stuck coming or going. Moosic Street is fine today - sure it's got some snow on it, but we had no problem getting up and down. If some people would just take their time and not be a$$holes behind the wheel, things might run a little smoother.
And as far as that nitwit and his NEPA/Katrina comparison. I would like to know how much was his donation to the people who were affected, did he send a huge check?? did he offer his two hands to add to the manpower?? did he open his doors to evacuees?? or did he sit back on his big fat internet and tsk-tsk tsk at the people in trouble? Did he get off his arse and shovel the snow for the lady next door, or help dig his neighbor's car out, or did he move the chair from the neighbor's shovelled area and park in the spot someone else cleared for their own car?
Remember, this is the same message board where they compared themselves as 'oppressed Scranton taxpayers' to victims of the Holocaust, so the Hurricane Katrina analogy isn't exactly out of character. The sad part here isn't the nut-bag posting this crap, it's that this kind of post can STAY but question Pilchesky or the Almighty Janet and you are BANNED. Oh, but that's considered 'Free Speech' in the psychotic world of Doherty Deceit. As the song* goes...
When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead, And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "off with her head!" Remember what the dormouse said: "Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"(*) I've incorrectly identified this as coming from the song 'Go Ask Alice'...and how dumb I was! Actually the song is called 'White Rabbit'. May Grace Slick forgive me for making such as stupid mistake.

OK ... I think I have seen it all at DD ... comparing the "Valentine's Day Storm" to Katrina ... but to say what the second poster says in this thread from the Important Links category ... well come on are you people serious!
Press for truth Posts: 13 Date: Thu Feb 15 9:50 PM, 2007 Views: 14 Quote | ReplyGovernment conspiracy against its citizens - why not here? I'm an afficiando of the 911 conspiracy theory. The following websites not only delve into that issue, but provide multitudes of information and facts about other conpiracies that our government has perpetrated upon us. Through that perspective, I view the conduct of our city government and am suspicious of much that Doherty does. To me, it remains entirely possible that it is done with the political aspirations to higher office, but it is done nonetheless and the citizens suffer because of it. These following links provide food for thought, supported by facts and undisputed evidence, and raises questions that have never been answered, even after decades of FOIA requests to our government which were denied.
On the next site you'll find a copy of the RICO complaint filed by the maintenance man from WTC north tower, who saved hundreds of lives. The site is in itself very eye opening, but his RICO complaint against a slew of government officials is even more informative. Defendants Bush, Cheney, Rice, and many others are shown in detail how they were complicit in this overwhelmingly believable conspiracy against the citizens of the US.

I've been interested in the 911 movement, too. And, similarly, I view Doherty's conduct with the same suspicions. There are many of the same players involved in taking this city for the financial ride of its life, and they all benefit to the detriment of the taxpayers. I believe only the constant exposure will eventually lead to their demise. Thank God for this site.
Great stuff on the 911 issue. Smells like a skunk, acts like a skunk, and looks very much like a skunk. Chances of it being a rabbit are slim to none.Is Scranton Girl Kidding ... the same players as in the tragedy of 9/11.
If this is not the most ridiculous Conspiracy Theory yet I don't know if they will ever come up with another comparable. No more to say other than what sick, sad pathetic individuals you all are!!!
and please don't compare city politics to such a tragic event! It was disgusting that you compared our city roads to Katrina ... and this is equally as bad if not more so!
Parinoia will destroy ya!
