I was told that Marie Shumacher, regular council speaker, is Joe Pilchesky's sister whose permanent address is Falls Church, Virginia. I don't know if it is true. Can anyone verify or refute this?
I guess if she is, my initial response would be 'so what'. However, if she is speaking to council but isn't a resident, then that is an issue, as other speakers have been turned away for not being residents.
Anyway, Ms Schumacher is one of the few LoD tee-shirt wearers that I think knows how to address council properly. Yes, some of her questions and comments are clearly leading, but she is always respectful while at the podium, and she seems to do her homework. If the rest of the crew acted like her, council meetings would move up the decorum scale just a bit.

That was the reason for my question...why can someone who does not permanently reside in the city have the right to task our public officials and ask for information? I did a bit of research on the Scranton Times site, and there are a few Letters to the Editor from awhile back sent from someone with that name who lists an address of Falls Church, Virginia

Absolutely ... it happens every week ... when Lee Morgan addresses council ... this has been going on for years and years ... why are you bringing this up ... if Marie Shumacker is Joey P's sister ... all I have to say about that is ... how very sorry I am for you Marie .... hope that's a rumor ... but other than that ... I for one do not care enough to find out ... don't know about the rest of you. I actually think it couldn't be true because Marie is always so very respectful when addressing Council that well how could she have that same blood running through her veins.
