I love this post .... I guess "Hallowgate" will never die ... even though it was determined that it was not private property that was cleared and that was the admission of Mr. Dick Laske and you Mr. Moran ... There are so many Hypocrites to choose from!!! Just when you think there may be a good guy in the bunch ... or good gal ... who knows with a name like Chris ... but anyway I thought this one was going to be a reasonable person ... Well, I think that my little friend Chris P. was banned ... and I am ashamed of myself for even saying this ... but I hope he does not come here to post ... he was a bit tooooo much even for the at DD ... Can you all imagine that! My Magical trip to me to the thread MORE MONEY WASTED FIGHTING THE UNIONS?Scranton "Political" Times I would put up this thread but it is just toooo big ... but I find it funny ... because the don't seem to have a problem with any lawsuits filed by the Powerful Pill ... but they do seem to have a big problem with money being "wasted" on the Mayor appealing decisions where the Unions are concerned ... now my train of thought on this is this ... why is it OK for the Pill to sue the city every chance he gets ... does this not "waste" money ... I think it does ... so I guess this isn't so much for the Magical trip thread as it is the DD Hypocrites thread ... I think that Doherty can't be just stomping on the rights of all of the unions because why the hell does he have no problems with the DPW ... why the hell are they not out there filing arbitration's against the City every chance they get ... makes me wonder ... Why was he able to settle the contract with the DPW? Traditionally they were always the department that got **** on at every turn. But they seem to be able to work with the administration ... I don't understand ... They don't go to every council meeting and whine ... and cry ... they do their jobs ... so what do we think can be learned from these DPW employees? I surely would like some input on this because I think the Fire, Police and Clerical Unions could learn a thing or two from the Department of Public Works Employees! __________________ This is just one person's opinion -- mine! ~~PD where True Freedom of Speech Rings ... In my opinion, the 'blame' (if it needs to be dished out) for the lack of contract progress goes about 60% to the unions, 40% to Mayor Doherty. Mind you, unlike Joe Pilchesky I'm not an expert at labor contracts (or in being a plaintiff either), but the Police, Fire and Clerical unions have gone way over-board in demonizing the Mayor. This is classic union strong-arm tactics at work...they can't win their desired contract provisions through negotiation, so they resort to making life as difficult as possible for management (the Mayor) through rants at council meetings, outrageous personal attacks at DD and 'news' in the union paid for newspaper. It's far from an original tactic, but it's still stinks to high hell. As I've said before...Ms Krake, Ms Stulgis, Mr Gervasi should stop the public attacks and instead focus on any negotiations/abritration/legal avenues they are following. At this stage the only people they are harming are themselves and the reputations of the unions they represent. As union leaders, they should be a model for civil behavior and discourse, not the opposite. They Mayor isn't completely blameless here...the leader of any organization sets the tone for labor relations, and I think in hindsight he should have done more to foster better relations with these three unions in general and with the above mentioned union presidents in particular. As the old mafia saying goes, "Keep your friends close, but keep you enemies closer". It's hard to aruge with working men and women who just want an annual raise. I only wish the Chumster board was still accessible ... because let me tell you ... Bill Courtright was slammed at every turn on that board .... over the CRF issue ... they called him vile names ... changed his name to Courtwrong ... but now they want him to run again and they are backing him ... is this not hypocritical of them??? I think it is ... Here is the link to the Thread:Courtright makes it official, he wants to keep his seat Scranton "Political" Times (just a link in the interest of saving space) ... tell me if you think they are hypocrites ... I know what I think! Good luck Mr. Courtright because as we have seen in the past a political nod from them is like the kiss of death to a political career ... they endorse and the city goes against who they endorse ... I for one will not be voting for Mr. Courtright .... but that's just me! Considering that 75% of what's posted over there is insane, nonsensical posturing with a 24% chance of idle threats, it took some real guts to momentarily go against the grain and post something that was reasonable and almost intelligent.
