Well, I think you'd be really stupid if you missed my main point that before one brings the I.R.S. into the picture, one must determine how to classify the money received. But the first impulse here...as usual...was a childish insult.
Gifts are not taxable to the recipient. A charitable contribution would lead to issues regarding proper documentation. Income (earned or otherwise) would be a a potential tax avoidance issue.

Does anyone actually think that pilcheski or the people at dd had ANY idea that this situation might ever happen? If money changed hands over there, I am sure pilcheski would never have thought he would need to have it go through ANY channels, let alone the proper channels. And if there's anyone who would know which channels or to which account the money was deposited at Joe's Bank & Trust, it would be joanne pilcheski. Whether he wants to admit it or not, she must have been an integral part of all the dd bull$hit and knows where the skeletons and coffee cans are buried.
And if she is as smart as we hope she is, (and knowing first-hand what a prick he can be), she kept track of his antics and income for her own information.
