If what janet evans has said in her LETTER TO THE EDITOR is true, and the meeting with the U of S took place the way she says it did, well let me bite the bullet and say congratulations for making the effort and it's a shame there couldn't have been a better outcome for the City of Scranton ... and shame on you Fr. Pilarz for bullying a girl. (whew, that took alot out of me)
I read Chris Kelly's article in Sunday's paper with a cup of coffee and a knowing grin ... also knowing there are two sides to every story. The U of S wouldn't be as flush as it is if they handed out beaucoup bucks to every Tom, Boyd and janet that asked for it. And while I commend janet evans for making the effort, I can't imagine she went into that meeting with her hat in her hand, with the attitude she was meeting with clergy and working on the behalf of her constituents. That big poufy hairdo was most likely hiding the enormous chip on her shoulder.
The letter in itself wasn't quite her typical blather. It was so much easier to READ her comments than to LISTEN to her tell her woe-is-me tale as she so often does in front of the cameras at council meetings.
Janet, nice effort. Keep it up and good luck with the other non-profit entities.
Fr. Pilarz, we are one of the families who is having difficulty keeping up with the rising cost of real estate taxes in the city. When the time comes for our son to attend college, we will not be able to afford to send him to the U of S if things stay as they are. We understand you've got a tough job on your hands, but really, you need to loosen the purse strings already.
Oh, and p.s. -- I taught my children the safe way to cross the street when they were three. If you'd be so kind as to give these children of privilege a refresher course in "Street Crossing One Oh One", there are a whole lot of residents who would greatly appreciate it. Hopefully it will be an "on-site" course on the corner of Linden and Jefferson.

I for one do not believe Janet's truth ... she had two very biased witnesses with her ... and well Father Pilarz he does not have a witness so they can say anything happened at that meeting.

But when the meeting is held behind closed doors, who's to know what the actual truth is? Given Evans' penchant for closed door meetings followed up by calims of "that's not what really happened; here's the story..." who can really believe her at this point?
"Wolf" has been cried too many times by her already; no one believes anymore that a strong, powerful, intelligent and influential woman such as herself(gak) can continually be taken advantage of, lied to, misconstrued, and made to be the victim.
That act is wearing thin, Janet.
