Double standard applies ... Jan misses another meeting and it's ok with everyone ... if that were Judy or Sherry or Bob McGoff they would be raising the roof of City Hall demanding that the salary be paid back ... telling how they are ripping off the taxpayers .... yet how many meetings this year has Missy Jan missed or shown up for the very end of which is worse in my opinion ... and nothing is ever said.  WHY?

I honestly would like to know why ... I don't think that Glenn should have a problem with that. For Judy Gatelli it didn't matter what the reason was ... she better have been there or they were demanding that she pay back her salary ... Now Jan has missed how many meetings and come late to how many meetings? What is the reason for her being often late and missing much of the time. It is not work related so what could the reason be? And is it a good reason ... and really is any reason good enough. Hell these people were yelling for Bob McGoff to be present when he was very ill ... so what reason could Jan possibly have that would allow her to be absented from and late for so many meetings?

And even more than the reason for her absences from these meetings ... I would like to know why it's a non issue for Joe Pilchesky and the kids across the hall ... including Glenn.

Missing meetings is certainly not a "non issue" with me.  I believe you have an obligation to attend whenever possible and if you cannot meet that obligation then you should consider other options.

Her back has become a major health issue, by the way.  I'm not using that as an all-encompassing excuse, but from what I understand she is virtually wheelchair-ready at certain times.

Well if her back is such an issue it should be a clear cut decision on her part ... Resign if you cannot perform the duties of the office. Simple don't you think.

Oh for God's sake if it is that bad go have surgery I mean please it is a very common surgery these days. (Yes I do know from personal experience ...very serious personal experience to be precise)...Also how come no one is really investigating how her so--called back injury actually occurred?  After all the taxpayers are paying for it so I think we have a right to know....

RTK letter to the district ... just kidding ... I don't know how serious her back injury is nor do I really care ... what I do care about is her piss poor attendance at meetings and the fact that the doomers and the kids across the hall (glen included) are giving her a pass ... I seem to reall Bob McGoff being hospitialized and people demanding his presence ... so like I stated earlier ... there is a double standard going on here ... if they like you they don't care when you show up and if you happen to be on their $hit list ... well you better be in a coffin if you don't show up ... so how very DD of me ... if she can't show up ... and I do believe that the building can be accessed by a wheelchair ... then she should give up the seat to someone who can do the job ... or does she not show up so she can say well I didn't vote for that .... when there is something that is rather tough on the agenda ... notice the pattern ... I DID

Well I'm sure she can retire ... and if she can't perform her council duties then at the very least she should resign ... just my opinion ... but I am sure I am not alone with that particular opinion.

I believe she's probably missed more meetings this year than she has in all of her previous years on council.

I find it laughable that tha DOlts over in JOey LanD give their QUeen a pass on missing meetings, coming in late and even rearranging the order of public inputs and council voting so she could vote and get her venum out against the mayor.

Also not a peep over the secret budget meetings in her kitchen (I heard Joycey BOy was upset because she served hamburger helper lasagna and JOey BOy got meatloaf when he was there, but I digress), the crony appointments to authorities (she left them out to hang), the vindictive so-called "budget cuts", the crony appointments on the planning board (heard Chris is still gloating that he gave it to JOey BOy), Loscombe suing council over a pention he knew that he would loose before he was sworn into council, etc., etc, etc.

The QUeens lack of Leadership skills and ability to move the city forward is pathetic, but what do you expect from someone whose only accomplishmnet on council for six+ years was to go against the mayor.

And that will remain her only accomplishment on Council ... I think she has missed or come in at the tail end of more meetings than Judy missed ... come on kids see her for what she is. She is not out to help you she is only out for one person and that is herself ... People's Team my @ss!

Amazing how much that back declined since the campaign.  Why this is the second biggest "coincidence" of Ms Evans career...you know, right after her just happening to be at the top of the teacher hiring list while she just happened to be a sitting school board director (you know, the same directors that HIRE teachers).  Funny, but those kinds of coincidences don't seem to happen to many others.   

Like everyone else here I agree this has a very, very simple solution:  If she is truly disabled, then she needs to resign from City Council.  "Disabled" means that you are "not able" to perform the responsibiities that you were peforming prior to the determination.  That should include sitting for hours at council meetings...AND...campaigning for public office.

I just joined facebook and have joined the impeach Janet Evans Group. It's a small group ... but they have a link to our site on the page. And no .... I did not add it it was already there. I heard about it and well the only way for me to see it was for me to join facebook ... so I did. It was quite an interesting Group ... they seem to ask the same questions that we ourselves ask here ... so I joined a discussion and it was kind of fun actually ... so anyway ... I just thought that I would share that we are not the only ones questioning Missy Jan and her back injury ... and the fact that she is missing many meetings.

coincidence too, how one of the most progressive initiatives to come along in a dog's age, and both she and the finance chair are missing. hmmmm........

what a shame since that plan would have been helpful to the economics of the dowtown. what's that saying about shooting yourself in the foot?? oh well, the pension lawsuit must have clouded loscombe's mind and late nights outside the city must have clouded rogan's.

does anyone realize that if loscombe's suit goes through that other people would benefit too? he's not the only person who jumped back into city duties and had their pension suspended. if he didn't want to lose the salary for a while, he should have reconsidered the position.
it just seems like this present council is acting first and asking questions after. not good.

Come on Miss Clairol, it was one thing when you took a week or so off to welcome a new grandchild. That's was certainly excusable, considering the circumstances. But, as many old timers say ... $hit or get off the pot ... and get your fuzzy pink arse to the meetings where it belongs and stop making excuses!

I believe that by now the QUeen has missed as many if not more meetings than JUdy. Tthe LOaDs had their panties in a bunch and lambasted her week after week and wanted Judy to return portions of her salary....

Where's the LOaDs same level of outrage and demands from JaNUT???

The LOaDs bitched and moaned at previous councils for taking time off in the summer...

They worship her Preacher ... so they will not make demands of her ... they feel sorry for her so they will never question any of her missed meetings ... there is a definite difference in the standards they hold the ones they like to than they held the former Majority to ... sad when you think about it really ... how they contradict themselves at every turn in what they expected from the former majority and what they let the present "Super" Majority get away with.

Indeed. They're only the two most feared and hated people in the northeast by the political snakes in the grass. That's all.  There will always be no shortage of communist-minded posters like Not Right, but these are two people who will not be thwarted by opposition to doing the right thing.

Mr. and Mrs. Titanium Backbone, that's who they are. We'd be blessed to have just one, but to have them both means someone (look up) knows the distressed status that we're really in.
Okay, Mr. Hyperbole.  If her backbone was really titanium, she'd be at work earning her paycheck rather than collecting disability, wouldn't she?  Janet Evans is the second biggest fraud the Scranton political scene has had in a long, long time.

Second only to Joe Pilchesky.
