and why not buy your own fire truck, hose, rubber boots, ladders.....and so on and so on........
If an investment of $300 would save my life I sure as heck wouldn't cut my own throat to spite Doherty's face....as I said before you can all try to spin this anyway you want but the facts are clear...you knew of a device which was very affordable, and needed but you chose to forgo purchasing it because "it wasn't your responsibility"! Now a man is dead...I hope your little tantrum was worth it. It certainly wouldn't have been worth it to me. For the last time anyone who knew about this device and chose to 'stand on principle" instead of just making sure it was purchased should hang their heads in shame. I guess they can try to comfort them self with the old "I was right" argument and maybe they were......dead right. SHAMEFUL!
So tell me MAF, where would it stop? First the FF's buy their own saftey equipment, then like the cops they buy their own Firetrucks? Be realistic, it is the CITY'S responsibility to provide this BASIC equipment. As it is this is probably the only Professional Fire Dept in the State, let alone Nation that has to purchase its own Personal Protective Equipment/Turnout gear. When you are given the job you are given a HELMET and that is replaced approx. every 10(ten) years. Fvcking Joke!! Do some research, get the proper info, stop at a firehouse and ask some questions, ask a cop, do whatever it is you have to do, but get the TRUTH. Don't believe everything you read in the Times or what you're told.
The CITY is RESPONSIBLE for not only the safety of the taxpayers, but for the safety of the MEN and WOMEN who PROTECT the taxpayers.
It might have stopped at the life of a man, sadly it didn't.
I do not dispute the the city could have purchased the device easily, I am saying that by not purchasing this device yourselves in light of that fact simply to "give it" to Doherty is astounding in its immaturity and its potential for disaster. You can spin this anyway you want but to spite Doherty you choose to be unsafe... now this fine man is gone. Was it worth it?
I want everyone to stop and think about one thing ... Joe Pilchesky is not a lawyer ... he's just a guy playing a lawyer on the internet. Please don't trust your legal needs to this man.
