Usually Hardcore is pretty reasonable for a DD poster.  In fact, between him and Glenn, you're talking about 95% of the intellectual capacity of the site.  However I saw this posting and I immediately thought "Hello Pot..."

While I'm sure Stilp is well intentioned, turning over anonymous tips is a collosal waste of time.  Anonymous tips can't be verified, nor can law enforcement agencies follow-up with questions necessary to launch any type of investigation.   Even legitimate tips from known citizens often don't get investgated for lack of man power. 

Stilp is wasting his time unless he is able to produce credible sources that can be verified, instead of what are technically no more than rumors.




You can see the thread here.  I know, I'm being far too indirect, so for the benefit of Spindler, Sammy & other let me spell it out:

Isn't DD FULL TO THE BRIM with rumors?  Hell, DD is the local equivalent of TMZ.  The site is nothing BUT rumor and innuendo.

In my opinion, the moment you contribute to any thread at DD that involves rumor or innuendo you are engaging in it yourself.

"Legitimate Tips from Known Citizens", Is what i'm reading correct ? they don't get investigated due to lack of manpower ? That has to be the biggest line I ever heard of. There is no excuse for any complaint not to be investigated. The last I heard was the Scranton Police Department is a 24 hour FULL Service department. If any Supervisor ever allows a Legitimate complaint to go unanswered, they should be fired along with the officers refusing to investigate. If the Police Department has a gripe about manpower they should bring thier complaint to the negociating table not to the public with scare tactics. If they want public support on manpower issues, they should do so with public service. What a lame excuse from somone who claims to be a COP, a Special Assignment COP who doesn't handle complaints anyway. Maybe if they are short on personell, He or She should come back and take some Legitimate Tips and follow them up and make some quality arrests, instead of crying about how bad things are.
