Ahhhhhh ... Joe try as you might you can't blame this one on the Mayor ... he gave you all what you have been asking for for at least the past 4 years ... I think that you all began crying that we do not need to waste money on the Zoo as soon as it opened.
Now that it's gone you try and blame it all on the Mayor ... now you all say it's a shame ... well the Doomers and you kids across the hall do anyway ... at least the City Data people stand behind their words ...
Don't you remember the countless people ... like poster Nobody and his Momma Granma constantly saying that the place should be shut down for the safety of the animals ... don't you remember the countless posts slamming Ms. Miller when she brought in those two cubs after the death of Reba ...
It's a case of becareful of what you ask for ... and in this case demand ... because you just might get it ... now that you all got it you turn it around and blame the Mayor ... Nice try ... not gonna work though!
Will the animal lovers remember Doherty's cruel handling of zoo animals It remains to be seen why the animals had to leave when they did. Perhaps it was the money, God only knows with Chris Doherty. Millions for Philly laawyers to fight 23 arbitrations, 21 of which he lost, but no spare change for the animals at the zoo.
The only real problem I have, besides not knowing the real reason for the eviction, is that he could have given Miller and the animals some good advance notice that the eviction was coming. What skin was it off his ass to have told her in January?
The guy is just a prick like that. It's his trademark, actually. It has been since the day he took office.
Joe, you don't even have to be an animal lover to detest what that bastard did at the zoo. That pissed off a lot of people, I guarantee it. My whole family for starters. I think the nut has lost it.
sorry boys, they left on their own. from my understanding, after the court date, that weekend they split. when guys came into work on monday morning there wasn't anyone or anything there.

That's not really true, Vince, while they did leave on their own, they were essentially driven out. They had had enough. This was hospitality - Scranton style, at the hands of the mayor and his people. As long as there are some people who can always be easily duped to fall in line they'll continue to get away with things like this. But that doesn't make it right.
The amount of money pumped into Nay Aug Park is truly prodigious. And for that we got some real improvement. But we also got a lot of mismanagement, poor construction, inadequate maintenance; a gross waste of taxpayer money. If the renovation of Nay Aug Park is one of the mayor's "crown jewels" then we got a cubic zirconium at a Hope Diamond price tag. The money promised to the wildlife center (which wasn't even fully delivered) was a drop in the bucket. So this wasn't about money.
The Millers didn't deserve this horrendous treatment at the hands of the mayor, certain individuals in the media, and certain citizens, some ostensibly well-intentioned, others not. I wish both them and the animals the best. I have no doubt that these animals will be well taken care of, infinitely better than most of the self-professed "animal lovers" who came creeping and crawling out of the woodwork six years later, claiming to care about the animals. This is a matter of using and abusing people and animals for their own expediency and then dumping them like yesterday's garbage when it suited their purposes. It's also a matter of character and credibility or the lack thereof. I doubt this kind of behavior represents the majority of the people of Scranton. I think most people are better than that.
During Threat-Scam II, besides the phony fear factor, (there never was any real danger) the underlying theme was the mayor's claim that televising council meetings hurts the image of Scranton. This message was also parroted by crony Austin Burke of the chamber of commerce.
That was absurd, of course, and indicative of someone desperately trying to hide the truth. However, there is a simple truth here. and there is something that hurts the image of Scranton, and by association, all of us...
It's the mayor.
Why don't you all at DD take responsibility for your actions and stand behind what you asked for ... not gonna happen right ... anything to further your political agenda ...
Anyway ... please remember to get out and vote today. It's more than your right ... It's your civic duty.
Have a great day!
