At the risk of hijacking a thread (albeit already too late) I started my own, in response to, responses to me.
To "haters" - I had no problem responding back point by point, and I did. I mentioned that dissenting opinions here get shouted down. "Lus", the moderator, disagreed, but then posted three responses to the same post by me. I just thought that seemed hypocritical.
To "Agamemnon" - I would guess, you; "LUS"; "haters"; and "Girl Thursday"; all are moderators, because all of you have the ability to edit your posts. Therefore, it's also likely you at the very least, know each others names, and are most probably friendly on some level. I'm going out on a limb here, but you also likely understand what others mean by their posts.....while I, who reads here more often then you know, commonly don't have any idea what any of you are talking about. Looks like the same can by said by you about me.
I try to make posts that (1) are not filled with wild conjecture, but rather facts, and (2) are somewhat witty, at least to me. Therefore, since it seems none of you get the gist of some of my comments, I find myself trying to explain, without revealing who I am.
To the point, I wouldn't exactly consider myself "downtrodden", and I'm not whining about my social status. I told "Lus" I didn't think we traveled in the same social circles, because I usually eat bad food served in biker bars or rock clubs out of this area. I curse like a sailor, and drink like a fish, and have had my share of bloody knuckles...which is something you must be prepared for if you frequent those types of places.
I also read, and sometimes post at DD. I know no one here will like this comparison, but on some levels, PD is a microcosm of DD. While there are no crazy accusations, running off half ****ed with little information, there is an overwhelming sense on both boards that if you don't say what people like, you will be treated like a pariah. (There indignantly; here a little more politely, but a pariah none the less)
I don't know how often I'll visit here; although I am comfortable taking an adversarial pont of view, it does get tiring explaining every bit of syntax.
My final point- Lus (or maybe someone else) pointed out if I don't like it here (Scranton) I should get out. No. This is my home. I was born here, and have family members in the ground here. While I have lived and/or worked in New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, and a few states south of here, I intend to finish my working career here. Instead or cutting and running, I choose to rail against what I see as wasteful spending, corruption, and the increasing tendency to burden the ever eroding [working class? middle class?] with higher taxes, to sustain the lavish lifestyle of many politicians, and the meager stipend to those who can't ( or choose not) to work.
DD is about bashing Doherty. PD is about bashing Pilchesky. I get it.
I do not know any of the moderators in real life none. I for one found this place by chance many many moons ago.
We do not treat anyone as a pariah .....unless.....you resort to personal attacks to bolster your argument. I and the others don't care if you disagree with us. We do however, care if you assign untrue and unnecessary labels to us for having a disenting opinion from yours.
I am the one who talked about leaving. What I said is if you only intend to whine then you should move on if however you intend to take a proactive postion to change what you don't like by all means hang around. Its the ankle biting that goes on (next door is a good example of this) that dives me nuts!
I also asked for a few examples of your comments about the millionaires, and now from this current post "high taxes to sustain the lavish lifestyles of the politicians". Can you show with an example how my taxes or yours 'support' anyone's lifestyle?

That introduction of yours give us (me, anyway) a little more of an insight as to who you are and what you stand for.
Yes, we three are moderators ( with Lus as our fearless leader), but other than seeing a picture of Lus a while ago, I don't know any of the other moderators or their real names, for that matter.
Since this board was founded on the premise of people being banned from DD just because of a comment or a username joe pilcheski didn't agree with, I can say in all honesty, yes, we do have a chip on our collective shoulder when it comes to DD, the posters and its admins.
So when someone saunters over here from across the hall singing his praises and that of his fair-haired janet, we tend to get (HA) our Irish up. We can all use a healthy debate, but for the most part, I'm just here to point my finger and laugh at them. It's pretty rare I get involved in a heated political debate, but you sucked me right in.
Again, nice to meet you (and I changed my mind about you peeing on my leg in a bar)

...Yes we are moderators ...I don't know the names of the other moderators (although I confess to knowing Lus real first name) ...I'd say that we are friendly to the extent that we post here, but I've never had the honor of meeting any of them in person ...I don't always understand what others write...and when that happens, I'll ask for clarification. I suggest you do the same.

haters: When I spoke about lavish lifestyles of politicians, I was speaking more of state and US Senators and Congressman, not so much local politicos.
PA State senators make a meager $61,000 a year, but they do enjoy a $158.00 a day per diem while they are in Harrisburg. On top of that, many double dip and attend taxpayer funded catered dinners and lunches. They have premium health care and very lucrative pensions. While most are not millionaires, they sure like to live like they are on the taxpayer dime.
Girl Thursday: I'm glad you see a littel better of where I am coming from. My humor sometimes doesn't come off as well in print, and maybe I'm not as funny as I think I am.
Agamemnon: I like your tag lime from "White rabbit", but I liked your avatar of "Jim Halpert" better.
If I picked one actor's character to best describe what I'm like, it would be "Joker" (Matthew Modine) in Full Metal Jacket . He's a wiseguy cracking jokes in bad surroundings, but when put to the test, he displays the courage of his convictions.

I did post to this topic late in the afternoon yesterday ... I don't know what the hell happened to it ... have to contact sparklit again ....
Anyway ... the thing about this place Balko is even if you did worship at the feet of Pilchesky you would still be welcome here ... the only thing that will get you banned from this site is a threat ... or writitng about the children/grandchildren of anyone including politicians.
You quite honestly got my back up when you seemed to attack GirlThursday for her opinions ... I don't like attacks on the posters and I do jump in to defend. I also was highly offended by your comment about peeing on my leg ... I would be the more serious of this group and don't often find the humor where it should be found. For that I apologize ... but I am trying to get better.
The moderators ... they were my first posters and I couldn't always be online to watch over this place, they were always there to advise me ... I as you have wittnessed am the one to overreact to things here ... and they let me know when I am doing that. Sometimes a post must be edited ... if there is something written about children ... it will be edited and chances are that when that happens one of us will be around to take care of it.
I am the administrator and they have edited me ... when that happens I don't question it ... I just figure that I must have been in a mood when I wrote whatever they edited and I deserved it... I am the administrator but I do not have the last say ... and I think that is the fair way of doing things here.
Usually nobody will ever be banned without a vote of the membership as a whole ... and we have only banned 2 people from this site since we have been in existance. That is the difference between PD and DD.
I honestly do not know these people in the real world ... only in our little virtual world called PD ... I would not know any of them if I were standing right next to them in the grocery line ... I wish I did know them however it's really better that we don't know.
I hope that we can start over ... and hell if I am barking at you ... let me know ... minus the peeing on the leg comment and I will try and do better.
