Way to insult the fine people in NS ... I'm sure that most of you goons have never even been to most of the pubs in NS ... we don't consider any of them slumming. Wow.
He's not slumming it going to Shooters. Not at all.
There are probably more Irish in NS than Greenridge and Minooka combined. (So I guess we are more guilty of inbreeding than any other part of this town ... cut me a break)

You are probably right, but they are more shany irish, not the lace curtain type that the DOhertys think they are.. (and of course we are shanty Irish .... come on!)
I know for a fact that he is hated in North Scranton I have many friends living there not to mention a lot of fire and policeman call North Scranton home. Also Mayor Doherty is whats called Lace Curtin Irish and the hard working Irish can't stand his type of Irishman. So you see Anti ,not all Irish are the same there are the grafting Lace Curtin thieves of the Doherty clan and then there are the descendents of those who worked in the mines and instilled a work ethic in there children not an entitlement ethic. If a party is being hosted for Mayor Doherty in North Scranton and its somewhere other than Stirnas Restaurant its because some poor slob is being forced to throw one and fill it with friends as either a thank you or a pay to play bribe to Mayor Doherty .I bet you will not find Rep. Murphy there even though he almost lives next door to Shooters. I do wonder if big union representatives Jack Big Dog Evans or Jim Kuchwara will show up for the party.
These people are beautiful ... they think they know it all ... superior attitudes .... Not all in NS hate the Mayor ... but believe what you want ... and hey from what I understand the Tauras Club has had parties for the Mayor in the past and I'm pretty sure the future will have a few more on the schedule.
I'm not going to be attending tonight ... however I wish I didn't have other plans so I could ... sounds like a good night out for $10.00 ... Oh well I always miss out on these type parties ... seems I am never available on the night they cost $10 ... bummer!

So ... did anyone attend ... I went to DD this morning expecting to see something on this ... and there was nothing. I was wondering since the kids across the hall think going to Shooters Pub is slumming. How many were brave enough to enter the slums of NS?

I don't normally attend political events, so no news from me.
By the way, I love the references to "shanty Irish" and "lace-curtain Irish"...that's no diffferent than a bunch of Klansman sitting around a burning cross talking about "jungle bunnies".

That's it Vince ... not a detail of the Party ... who was there ... was a good time had by all??? Was it run by the "Shanty Irish"? LOL
I guess the fact that it was well attended is the reason that there is not one mention of it on the DD site .... hmmmmmm

Thanks Vince that makes two that saw Dave G there. So he is either pro Doherty or was there to black list the union members who went or even maybe just a coincidence he was at shooters sitting at the bar the same night Chris Doherty was having a fund raiser.
Humm that could be interpreted as job intimidation tsk tsk tsk not very nice!! Remember the holy hell the doomers raised when a policeman was at the meetings? They were sure it was intended to keep them away from the podium. Please explain Dave G (or whatever funny storybook name you go by on DD) what your presence at that party meant exactly??

Just another day of thug tactics by a bunch of people who have rationalized themselves into believing that anything is justified when it comes to unseating Chris Doherty.
Note to Pilchesky Toadies: It isn't.
The ironic part is that this is the same crew that cry like jilted 12 year old girls whenever someone on the opposition decides to actually fight back. Just wait...when/if the Pilchesky tax stuff comes out, you'll read more whining that you do in the worst Jerry Seinfeld script.

Posts: 4265 Date: Feb 21 10:56 PM, 2009 Doherty's party at Shooter's a dud except for Scopeletti scuffle Doherty's fundraiser only raised the hairs on Scopeletti's back at Shooter's Bar on Market St. two nights ago.Someone was busting his balls because there were no N. S. politicos present and things almost gotphysical, according to my source. Following the scuffle, chants of "Gary, Gary, Gary" finally drove Scopeltti out of the bar and who knows where.
If Doherty was looking to get a reading on the pulse of N. S., he got it. No shows. A handful of loyalists who go to all of hisfundraisers and the beer mongers and that was it. Some people who walked in were told it was a Doherty fundraiser and they walked out. Perhaps the mayor forgets that his boy Shimkus got hammered in N. S.

Wow ... now not that I was there but I do know some people who were and I don't know who told this crap to Joe ... but it is my understanding that it was a good crowd there. They didn't mention the Gary chanting and I think that would be something that this person would have told me ... although they did tell me that Gervasi sat at the bar with a puss on because the crowd was that good ... I think that I will take my friend's version over the Pilchesky version anyday!

your friend was right. i experienced no such thing, the crowd was large, there was no chanting and after the party i stuck around to hang out with a couple of friends. none of this happened. i don't know where he's getting his information unless it's just to throw the scent off how well attended the party truly was!
