I have a new addiction ... obsession ... whatever you want to call it ... I find that I am watching programs that are centered on the struggle to lose weight. My favorite is Ruby ... Ruby is a woman who was almost 500 pounds when she started her diet ... and to watch this woman who couldn't even fit into the drivers seat of her car for 6 years ... wow ... I somehow began thinking if she can do this ... then so can I ... She is doing this in such a public way ... I don't think that I could ever do that ...
I did learn from her though ... one would think that they are doing the right thing when they pick up a protien bar for a snak rather than a bag of chips ... but those bars are meant for total meal replacement ... so when Ruby went on vacation she made a choice not to take her pre-packaged (Hour Glass Meals) with her ... she was eating sensibly ... but she was having protein bars as her snack ... so she ended up after a two week vacation gaining 3 pounds ... who would think that was a bad thing to do... I never would have thought it.
Another of my favorites is that new lifetime show ... DietTribe ... is the struggle of a group of friends who want to lose 30 pounds in 3 months .... now these girls somewhat annoy me ... but yet I am watching ... they whine through most of their workouts ... they make video diaries telling french fries how much they miss them ... They to me just seem annoyed ... I don't think that they realize the great opportunity that they have ... they get the help of a personal trainer and they have a psychologist to help them through the process ... yet they seem to be fighting it ... My God what I wouldn't do to have a personal trainer ... but that will never happen. I have not been inspired to lose weight by any one of these five girls involved in this show ... but I think that I do take something away from the show ... and that is What not to do.
I could go on and on about these shows .... but I won't bore you with it ... but I must say this ... if you get a chance to watch ... watch Ruby ... she is on the style network (comcast channel 99) ... I think this woman is an inspiration ... she is working with all the resources provided for her ... she seems to know what a great opportunity she was given and she does take full advantage of it. Anyway ..... I'm done for now ... off to look for exercise and recipes. Have a great day ... I know I will!
