I am wondering if you can give information ... I know that you may not want to and that would be ok ... but I am going to ask anyway ...
Below you will find posts that were up on DD concerning Bill Courtright ... I will highlight in red the one that I am talking about and ask my question at the end of this post. I had to include the other posts as I don't think it would have made much sense without the Pilchesky post.
Who will Bill "The Fencer" Courtright back in this election?
The man who cannot be loyal to those (taxpayers) who trust him and pay him is a very dangerous man.Such a man is Bill Courtright. Quiet as a councilman who never took a strong stand against corruption in this city, Courtright has earned the nickname, The Fencer. You neverknow which side of the fenceCourtright's feet will land on.
Last election, he openlythrew his support behind Piccolino as the spoiler as to prevent Pat Rogan from beatingMcGoff. That's exactly what happened. Now,The Fencer, wants to be the taxman. The same man who assured that were screwed by another Doherty majority wants a good paying public job, with us as his paymaster.
He and Garyhave a history of being good friends. So, will he be behind Gary? Honestly. Or, will he cut his throat like he cut Rogan's (Our's)?
Well, Courtright really is on the fence now. He has to back Gary.He has to back Evans and her team. He has to do it openly and publicly. And, he has to tell Piccolino to sit it out.
Or, no taxpayer soup for Courtright.
Not that he's a lock, not by a long shot. The Vitali/McGovern team have done the public well. She won't be easy to knock off. And, you can probably bet your last dollar that the money due to the city will show up, Ahhhhhhhhh, right around late April.
Will Bill Courtright back Mrs. Evans? He told the Evans boys that he and Mark Walsh should not do the party scene together. Said it would be bad for him, Walsh and Dibileo too be around Mrs. Evans because she is a wacko in the eyes of half the voters. Some stones on this guy. Thinks he is some big vote getter. Can't make this $hit up!
Ok Dave ... seeing that you are one of the "Evans boys" ... is peewee correct when he states that this conversation took place? And why might I ask is it bad for these two gentlman to be around Janet? Did he .. if in fact this conversation took place .. explain? It seems as though ... and I think that in an email you have stated ... that you and poster peewee are friends ... so is he telling the truth ... did this conversation take place? And if so ... what led up to this particular topic? I was under the impression that Janet, Gary and Bill were all friends ... was I wrong?

Yes to your question of the conversation. What lead to this topic was the talk of a combined group having fundraiserparties. Mr. Courtwright IMPLIED thatGary, Mark Walshand himself not be around Janet Evans alot during their campaign because he thinks half the city likes her and the other half doesnt. I took it that way as did another family member. Mr. Courtwright will see soon enough when the votes come in. There certainly will be some surprises. I can't speakof them being friends other than theyUSUALLY support each other on issues. Please don't get me started. Merry Christmas David
I did make the spaces. I know I write bad but not that bad.
For some reason we all seem to have that problem ... it's something to do with sparklits settings .... it happens to me all of the time.
I thank you for answering my questions. I think ... and it is only my opinion that Gary and Janet should they both run for Mayor draw from the same pool of voters ... so it's going to tough for both should they both choose to run ... one will more likely than not cancel out the other.
What I don't understand is why Courtright is going against Janet as he was a very staunch supporter of hers over the years.
And again ... it is only my opinion ... but I don't think that either has what it takes in votes to beat the incumbent.
I look at who candidates choose to surround themselves with ... and I don't think that either Janet or Gary make the right decisions as to who they have speaking out for them ... and I know that you like Fay ... but when I hear Fay endorse a candidate ... that just about tells me to find another person to vote for ... but that's just me. And if the kids across the hall endorse a candidate ... well then in my book there is something radically wrong with that candidate!

I look at it this way: we all make choices. Janet Evans made the choice to be the highly-visible anti-Doherty politician. Fair enough, but when you make that chioce and are very vocal about it, you have to realize that people who think that Doherty has done a decent job will end up with a highly negative opinion about you. That's where Janet Evans falls. I don't see where she stands on issues, rather all I see is that she's simply "anti-Doherty". I think that may help her with a small number of voters, but I also think it hurts with an even larger number.
People don't really care who a politician is against...they vote for self-interest, and they care what a politician is going to do for THEM. The vast majority of Scranton voters don't see Chris Doherty has this "evil head of the vast Irish conspiracy". Most see him as just another Scranton politician...you know, like Janet Evans. Doherty, on the other hand, doesn't paint himself as being the "anti-Evans" (or anti-anyone...hell, he doesn't even acknowledge that Pilchesky exists) candidate, so he comes out ahead every time.

You have no idea what you are talking about in reference to Chris D. /Janet.Not a clue. Don't even respond to it. When Janet won the primary by over 2000 votes and the general total in the final count of more than 18000 votes, you can't talk about the VAST majority. Again, Don't get angry.. You have no clue. This election will be the same no matter who runs. Only my opinion but her record speaks for it's self.
Also never said Bill Courtwright was against Janet. He wants to keep his distance for the reasons that you believe in your post of Janet. A distance that couldcost him many, manyvotes. Just a thought from someone whom is accused of being some crazy old man.
A Simple Question To Prove My Point: How many ONE ON ONE (as in races where she had ONE opponent and there was ONE opening) races has Janet Evans won in Scranton?

The 2006 primary was an odd duck. Many undecided voters broke for the guy they remembered from the news on television. Janet Evans would have won had Bill Courtright stayed out of it. They both drew from the same pool of voters. But them's the breaks in politics.
Funny. After three years and four separate elections, the guy left standing is Kevin Murphy. I bet that changes in 2010.
Hmmmmm.... you never know what will happen in 2010 ... If Frank did not lie about where he was residing it would have been a totally different ball game ... but the fact that Murphy (yes I said Murphy) was able to have Shimkus removed from the ballott forcing Frank Shimkus to go into the primary as the republican candidate on a write in campaign ... and then given the fact that many voted a straight D ... you are right it was an odd Duck ... but the odd duck wasn't so much the 06 primary as it was the 08 primary ... but hey that's just my opinion.
I do forsee the same thing happening to Janet if she chooses to run for Mayor if Gary DiBileo is also running ... they draw from the same pool of voters ... so I think that will split those primary votes and Mayor Doherty will walk right into being the winner in the Primary ... and should nobody choose to run in the Republican Party as has been suggested at DD (not that I believe what I read there) ... then that would mean that the winner of the Primary would walk right back into office ... although you never know what those independents are up to.

She will not run for mayor if Gary runs. That has not been decided. You are correct about the pull. Both can not run. State Rep. race is good example. Our polling was correct except 50 vote separated Bill and John O. from who would come in last.We do have the info that says she wins by a good margin one on one with Chris.
To answer Agame. Council race #1 Bill and Gary asked her to run for the 2 yr seat against McCormick. 1800 was the winning vote count. That was the first favor for Bill because he could notwin in a crowded field and sit in a majority on council with Gary. Janet was a givin {our polls}so she did that favor. That race took out Murphy, Hazzor and Pocius. Second favor was letting Gary run for mayor. He was sitting Council Pres. When will the favors stop? Hoped that helped.
David...I see your point, but I also think that the two year council seat isn't indicative of a regular election in that there was less interest in it and again, were there not other council openings with other candidates...effectively a crowded field still? Two year vs four year council seat may mean something to the people running for the office, but the majority of Scranton's voters don't care about those details. Maybe you remember this stuff better than I do, but I do remember this: When she was in a race where there was a single seat with a lot of competition, she lost. Why? Because many in Scranton see her as a one trick pony...and that one trick is "I'm against Chris Doherty". In this world, that's simply not enough.
Look, my central point was that while you understandably see all the positives associated with your wife's political career...and no one can blame you for that...there are more than a few negatives. The perception, if you will, from our outside is different than your perception from the inside.
The bottom line here is that I know that Janet Evans is againt Mayor Doherty, but what is she for? Oh, balanced budgets and "fiscal responsibility"? From what I've read and heard, this is what Janet Evans wants to do...
...cut administrative salaries to the bone ...remove all the consultants ...give the municipal unions everything they want ...AND not raise taxes
If that were actually done, guess what? The City would still be in the hole. That's the snake oil that Janet Evans is selling right now, and it's very typical for a Scranton politician. Honestly, just more hypocrisy.

What you've read and heard. Thats the problem. So you never have talked to Janet? I rest my case. Also, Trick Pony was a great band. 1 on 1 for a single seat is just that, but I forgot the schoolboard general election.4 people had double nominations. On the republican ticket Janet beat Dem. schoolboard Pres. Bob Casey by 2300 votes heads up.The best thing for you and others is to ask Janet and not believe what you read or hear. It's unbelievable how wrong you are. Before I forget, If you are refering to the state rep race as the seat she lost and came in second,--------------She won Scranton.
David, say what you want, but only one fact is clear here: if ever someone was blinded by love, it's you. I'm absolutely certain that, no matter what Janet did, you'd find the positive in it.

I'll admit that living with Janet is like living with an angel, but I can't figure out what the hell you are talking about. I answered your questions of votes and seats truthfully. I don't live my life by reading a paper or believeing what others say. I go to the source. You obviously don't. You can't defend that.
"...but I can't figure out what the hell you are talking about..."= blinded by your own perception of your wife (which is precisely my point). Mind you, I'm not knocking you for that...if anything, I give you a lot of credit for standing up for her and presenting yourself so well. In fact, I'll up the ante one more: I basically thought you were a lunatic, and pretty much said so here; I'll man-up and admitt I was wrong, at least by virtue of how you've written so far here.
As for my never having spoken to Janet, how do you know I haven't?

I'll be a lune. Some of my friends are lunes according to you. I don't care how you really feel of me. I know you haven't talked to her because you wouldn't have stated what she stands for on your " bottom line I know Janet's against Doherty" Spew. Stop making $hit up as you go, is all I'm askin.
David ... I have tried to fix the problem ... it's not something that you can fix in the Administration panel ... I did quite a while ago contact Sparklit about the problem.
I will contact them again.

"I know you haven't talked to her because you wouldn't have stated what she stands for on your " bottom line I know Janet's against Doherty" Spew."
Stalled? That's laughable! In case you haven't noticed, this is a written message board, so it's not really practical to respond point for point with every post.
I'm thinking you need to lay off the midnight + postings David...it dulls your edge.

Can't all you mods fix the site so the errors don't look like the poster is RE ?
Until sparklit fixes this problem your best bet is to compose the note in a word program then cut and paste it over. The spaces get screwed up when you delete, insert or change wording space inside this window.
