Frank Shimkus by eight points. Maybe ten. Do I want it to happen? Not necessarily--Kevin Murphy seems like a nice guy. Do I think it will happen? Most definitely.
The Murphy campaign is asking the wrong questions.

And, in my humble opinion, they may be waiting too long to ask them. The voting masses swallow information better in smaller, well-timed doses. Seed Planting 101 helps win elections. This area doesn't seem responsive to a quick stab to the heart. They prefer slow working poison and that's why the Times is so effective enjoying a very high batting average. Shimkus is well-rooted in the Geritol Nation, the Religous Belt and the Pay-to-Play Investors Alliance. Shimkus wasn't embarrassed being thrown off the ballot for long. He realized quickly how much of a gift it was and rolled his sleeves up.
I hear he's tired, but he's got a strong supporting cast around him, so he can be tired and still keep pace. Shimkus' jugular is well protected, but his back isn't.7K write-ins is impressive, even if 15% to 20% was bogus.
An outside sourcecomes to Murphy's aid in this one. Shimkus won't see it coming and it won't be telegraphed.
Now I don't agree with everything Glenn writes, but I think he actually has some credibility in the political campaign knowledge department. With regards to Pilchesky, maybe someone can explain to me which successful campaigns Pilchesky has run or even helped run...was it the DiBileo for Mayor campaign? Maybe the Evans for State Rep campaign? Now will any of the Toadies actually ponder this thought themselves? Probably not, as independent thinking isn't necessarily encouraged in the "World-O-Joe".
