Well I knew that one day it would happen ... I have to agree with some of what Anti has said in his post ... not the racial part ... not tha accusations he makes .... Poster Nobody makes the statement that the Steamtown Mall is a dangerous place ... and that one should not go there unarmed ... and well of course Anti responds ... he puts a racial slant on it ... and that is not what I am agreeing with ....
It's no performance. You suggested that Steamtown Mall is a dangerous place. So dangerous, in fact, that you and law enforcement are compelled to carry firearms (or, just want to be prepared to kill a **** when you get an opportunity?). Sounds like a day of shopping entails entering a warzone.
The latest numbers from a few months ago is that Steamtown is 12% vacant. Less people = more anonymity + less natural surveillance can create a site conducive to crime. However, Steamtown has not reached that point yet. The mall is not completely abandoned. Also keep in mind that Steamtown has its own private security that throws out those undesirable populations who scare away customers.
I read the Scranton Times regularly, I read this message and I talk to people. The consensus is that South Side is the city's high crime area. I have not, however, heard anyone suggest that Steamtown is a dangerous place. Sure, the black people are a little scarey. I mean, they're walking around the mall. Lock and load.

Oh and did you catch it .... Anti reads the Times regularly .... I thought he didn't read the rag .... busted Pappa may just ban you now Anti!
I have been to the Steamtown Mall on several occassions ... and I will tell you that I do not like it ... but not because I do not feel safe ... I don't like the stores ... Boscov's and Bon Ton ... I am more of a Sears and Penny's kind of gal ... love Penny's ... I don't like the garage not because I fear for my safety ... but I do fear for my health as I get a screaming headache everytime I park in there ... the fumes are awful. So unless they are having a great deal .... I just don't go there.
I do however like Steve and Barry's ... and I will miss them if they go out! I love a bargain and I like paying under $10 for jeans ... why spend $80 or $90 ... so I do go there for that store ... and at Christmas well I find myself there more than I would like .... Viewmont Mall is where I shop ... no Headache parking ... but I seem to recall more crime being reported there than at Steamtown ... car break ins and I do recall a shooting in the parking lot a couple of years ago and a few muggings ... so maybe poster Nobody is confused ... well we know he is I think it's a trait he's inherited from his mom (granma).

The point was that one would need to be armed afterit becomes a shopping wasteland. In any event, the dark parking garage underneath the mall is not the safest place to be alone, especially if you are a smaller person or senior citizen.
Any excuse to derail a thread and make it a racist hotbed, I suppose. But to be honest, I think the Steamtown Mall is in its twilight.
I have never liked that Mall ... never ... Ok I guess I missed that point ... it could happen ...
Anti will always derail the thread and use his race card ... I don't think anyone insinuated that the problems at the Mall were due to the Blacks or Hispanics ... Hell when I go there I never see many people there at all ... or any color ...
But I did not feel that it was unsafe to go there and have gone there on many occasions ... alone!

How anyone can reduce this murder to genetics is beyond me. First of all, reducing social behavior to genetics takes human free will out of the equation (i.e. you're removing human agency, and our will to consciously make decisions).
Reducing his behavior to genes or physiology vindicates the murderer and suggests that the particular social context is unimportant. What you're NOT factoring into the complex equation is the dynamic relationship between Radnall and the family, and how particular circumstances and jealousy brought the absolute worst out of him.
Further, reducing this murder to physiology then suggest that his actions were beyond his control. His actions were NOT beyond his control.

I think saying that I agree with this post says it all ... Hey guys even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again!

When Anti CHOOSES to drop the "Evil Irish trying to take over the world" and "Curse those middle class white people for cutting their grass" act, he's more than capable of making good points. In fact, you wonder how much of Anti's spew is pure act and how much is actual conviction, because he's not a dumb guy (but then again Joseph Goebbels earned a PhD in literature and philosophy).
