Anyone interested in helping write a "RTK" letter to the Controller asking how much time and money is spent on Pilchesky? Specifically:
How much time/money has gone into defending the City and it's employees against court actions filed by Joe & Edith Pilchesky?
How much time/money has been spent on responding to his various "RTK" letters?
I'm also wondering if there isn't something the "RTK" law that defines when someone is abusing the system? For example, what would stop someone from sending a "RTK" letter asking how many staplers there are in city hall, because they believed that staplers were an invention of a mythical Irish Catholic Network (hell-bent on destroying the paperclip industry)?
I'm all for open access to records and government information, but what's happening in Scranton is that Pilchesky is using the "RTK" process as nothing more than a tool for self-gratification (kind of like how he apparently uses Wheaties I think).

I'd love to know what the fuel budget was and how it stacks up against (a) the current oil price superspike and (b) the fact that everybody in the county seems to use government vehicles as private transportation. I know of at least four people who treat their cars as personal possessions.
I'll get into the travel agency operating from the Electric Building at a later date.
Pilchesky (mainly) uses RTK letters as a part of larger "search and destroy people he does not like" expeditions. In fact, I think it's a none-too-subtle way for the City of Scranton to partially finance his hobby...suing people and things (such as, coincidentally, the City of Scranton...talk about paying someone to punch you in the gut). Want proof? Show me ONE RTK letter directed towards or about Janet Evans...maybe the RTK letters that ask...
- What was Ms Evans position on the SSD hiring list before becoming a School Board Director and then after becoming a School Board Director - Show me all the communications between Ms Evans, acting as Chairman of the Finance Committee of Scranton City Council, and the Single Tax Office
I could go on, but the point is made.
Now could his RTK letters unocover actually useful information? Yes, but you know that's not his intent. Why do you think the Novembrino RTK letter is embedded in one of his "Show me all the dirt on ____________" threads?
This is simply another permutation of a "ends justify the means" discussion...and we all know that in the REAL WORLD, they don't always.

Some are addicted to cigarettes ... some are addicted to drugs ... some have an addiction to alcohol ... and then there is one who is addicted to lawsuits ... and the first step to him being able to file yet another losing lawsuit is the RTK letter.
I can just see him ... he sends the letters out not with the hope that they will be answered ... but with the hope that they will not be answered ... why you ask? Well if they answered them then he would have nothing to bitch about and the goons would not rally around him urging him to file ... because god knows there must be some conspiracy going on ... they must be hiding something ... it couldn't just be that they are actually doing the work it takes to run each office that he petitions ... it is really sad when you think about it.
If all of the RTK letters that he has sent to Scranton, Lackawanna County and other municipalities in the surrounding area were answered he would be buried in paperwork and there would not be time in his day for his precious website.
I'm not trying to say that taxpayers shouldn't question government ... but would you not agree that there is a right way to go about this ... and would you not agree that for the most part the kids across the hall and Mr. Pilchesky do not go about it in the right way ... they terrorize these people .. yes I did intend to use the word terrorize ... they post things about the personal lives of public officials and then about the personal lives of the families of public officials ... and why ... because they wrote a RTK letter and the answer didn't come in a day!
Two or three months ago we read on DD that Roseanne Novembrino does her job ... she was the only one who answered the RTK letters ... now ... Joey says she hasn't been doing her job for years ... which is it?
If Roseanne Novembring didn't do her job ... based on the fact that she didn't know about the money ... then we should all be able to agree that Janet who chaired the finance committee did not do her job ... oh she asked for the records and I seem to recall it being on the news and in the news paper that her second request for these same records was denied by council due to the fact that she never even opened any of the boxes she received as a result of the first request ... now maybe Janet took the time to go through all of that ... she might have discovered something ... who knows ... but she is just as guilty as anyone in this whole situation of not discovering what was going on.
Ag ... I agree with you that we should write a RTK letter to ask how much of the taxpayer dollars have been wasted battling Pappa Pilchesky in court. I have been wanting to know that answer for a long time ... I have even asked that Bill Courtright look into it for me ... but for some reason he didn't want to ... I can't imagine why!
Anyway this is enough of a ramble on this subject ... I am going to think about that RTK letter though because I really would like to know!
